On the way back home my son had to snap a few pictures under the big lights.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Started working on the engine wiring harness. I removed all the unnecessary wires and added a small fuse block and relays. Also mounted everything behind the seat.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Worked some on the front part of the fuel system. Still trying to figure the best routing for the fuel line.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Glad to see you still plugging away, Greg! I know what you mean about aftermarket stuff. I recently installed some new taillights on my '97 Tahoe, & it took forever to get them to fit how I wanted. Like yours, I had to resort to modifications.

On a completely different note, how about that Tide? What a game it was! Great way to cap off your birthday as well. Can't wait to see what next season has in store!

That was a wild game. The way the first half was going I sure didn't want to come into work the next day with all the Bulldog fans I work with.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Did you lengthen the harness to be able to reach the back of the cab? I kinda like the idea of mounting the PCM back there.

I haven't yet but it will have to be done. Also the pcm is mounted by the radiator on the donor vehicle so the harness has to be flipped if you plan on mounting the pcm in the cab. Some of the connectors will have to be either shortened or lengthened. In this case it might be more cost effective to have a new custom harness made. Still checking on going this route.

I will be contacting you about brake and hydraboost brackets soon. Thank you for checking in.

Re: Greg65 build thread

A little more progress. My hydraboost brackets from Captain Fab came in a few weeks ago so I started getting the lines made up. Very nice pieces also. Tallon Hydraulics makes some really nice -an fittings that screw into the booster for the Russell -an power steering lines.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I decided to use a bulkhead fitting through an existing hole in the frame to cut down on the length of the pressure hose. A couple my lines and the system should be complete.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Hey Greg, nice build, just starting on my 65, I see you got it pretty low with what looks like conventional suspension, what drop did you use, and I see no notch in frame ? Also what did you paint the frame with, looks good !

Thank you. I actually haven't touched the truck too much in a while. All the suspension came from Early Classic Enterprises. The front is 2 1/2 drop spindles and two inch drop springs while the rear has six inch drop springs, shock brackets, and a track bar kit. Look back I should have installed the notch before painting the frame. As far as the color I told our body shop at work to paint it semi gloss black. There is a wealth of knowledge on this with a bunch of great guys. Good luck with your build. Can't wait to see some progress.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I guess while I got my frame stripped may as well notch then, I'm running a BB 454, wonder if the weight is too nose heavy for lowering springs on front, maybe just springs but no spindle drop, what tire and wheel combo you running ? I like how it sits !

I would go with the spindles and a one inch lowered spring. The spindle helps correct the suspension geometry that is affected by being lowered. The wheels are Centerline Tel Star 15X7 with 235/70R15 front and 15x8 with 275/60R15 rear. The wheels have been on the truck for over twenty years. Wow time really flies by.

Looks like you need to change your location. Anticipate getting back on yours anytime soon, or are you enjoying the AL Gulf coast too much?

I actually talked about selling it so someone else could finish it but that didn't go over to well with the wife and family. So hopefully soon I can post a few updates. I will be pulling the engine and transmission soon to swap the cam and the oil pan. That is when I can tear myself away from the beach and all the great food.

Glad they talked you into keeping it. Looking forward to seeing some more progress. I won't get into the continuing saga with mine. It's still in TN, where it's been for about 3 years now. Of course we're now in South MS. Maybe someday in the future we'll be able to meet up with them, since we're not too far from you. Of the many things I miss living in TN, one of the best parts about moving is being closer to the Gulf Coast! Can't blame you for enjoying it as much as possible.
