Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Here's my new toy/money pit - a 1972 1/2 ton stepside. Has a 350, SM465 4 speed, ps and pdb and a heapin' helpin' of ferrous oxide!! If it looks familiar it's because it was pictured on page 24 while owned by DavTay in Jacksonville.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
So how long is that work box, are they 9ft compared to a 8ft box, heard they were a longer frame, not sure on 67-72 though. Cool truck.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
I don't know about the frame but I can check when I get back home (~2weeks). I think the box is aftermarket.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Oh ok, good for you especially if you don't keep the box in the future. A friend of mine bought an 85 I think it is, a K20 and had a work box which he removed and found the frame was a foot longer but in the middle so had to cut the frame and shorten it then weld it back together (at a reputable shop) to fit a 8ft box, so good for you on yours. Would look cool to keep the box and lift it a bit more, likin it.

Yea I like the bed, very functional for securing my things, and its kinda grown on me. Looking to put a 4" lift on her but that's a little down the road $$$. Thanks for the info.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
You guys make my Suburban look tiny lol
Anyways, it's got Detroit Lockers, NP205, 350/350, with the regular engine mods (Edelbrock, etc, etc), and some Doug Thorley long tubes. Soon to get some 3/4 ton leaf springs up front and some blocks in the back to even it out, and hopefully some new tires. Last edited by Yerboogieman; 04-21-2013 at 03:12 PM. |

finally a paint job! 1967 K-20 CST
after a few years of trying to get it together I finally painted my truck...I settled on a single stage urethane w/ hardener...original color...nice paint...Nason by DuPont ...
used my 30 gallon compressor and a water filter...45 pounds pressure...solid two coats with thgree on the hood, roof and doors...hit the inside bed too a little...still have a 1/4 gallon left over...I painted the roof green...( it was white and the body green) if I dont like it I will re spray it white??? this morning I did the jambs, hood sides and hit a spot or two I missed under one quarter...all with a small foam roller...worked like a charm...minimal tape necessary... May is good weather...no bugs(well a few) nice temps and no humidity yet...this is something I did 40 years ago ...and decided to do it again for oldd time sake...also saved a bundle...275 dollars in paint, hardner and some reducer and tape... it was fun...started at 8 in themorning after wet sanding w/ 400 the night before...only a few runs, nothing a little 600 and some wax wont fix...I do need to get the letter decals for the tailgate...also I lost one of the cab light bezels on the first test ride...I must have un hooked it when I pulled the tape of...that will probbably be harder to fix than anything else... ...and I think its running a bit better too...LOL... 1967 K-20 CST 4 wd 327 ci 4 speed... all the best...ted three rools of tape later...boy is tape $$ now... the letters cleaned up nice... almost ready...

WOW! Can you come on down to Florida and paint mine? JK. That is real nice. And that color is growing on me more every time I see it. Kinda wish my truck were older now. Congrats sir. So many never make it to paint...

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Silvertip67, looks great. I finally dropped mine at the painter. I don't have the shop, tools or skill. I did strip her done to bare metal. She is going back to the 504 and 502 two tone (Lt Olive green and white). Trim is done. I have to finish the tail gate trim and repaint the front grill. It was silver and the PO bainted it black. I found one decent 69 door and a marginal 71 door (passenger side). Mine were dead. I think I will run out of $$$ and I will do the bed liner myself.
71 veronica, looking good send pics when done! I'll do the same |
