Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the diff done with some help from my son while he is home from school. Got her of the jack stands and did just a bit of patina cleaning on the front fender. I think she will clean up good enough to drive.
Once I get the driveshaft back in and the rear brakes done I’ll swap her around in the shop and go to work on the front suspension, steering, and brakes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Actually, Saturday, but just got back online...

Drilled out broken bolt and tapped new hole on upper passenger side that fastens grill assembly in place

Replaced broken turn signal cancelling cam

Repaired broken exhaust hanger

So I got rid of two rattles and the horn works again - all in all, a good day

Almost roller status. Plumbing brake hard lines and waiting on parts currently.

haha, you bet, solid as a stump. I have the luxury of doing my frame at my brother in laws garage he isn't using. However, dragging all my tools to his place can be a pain, but for a free place to store and work on it, I cant complain. Your truck looks real solid body wise. I don't see much rust! Where did you buy yours from? Mine comes from Conway, and was purchased originally in Pocahontas.

Wish my truck was as solid as it looks in the photos. Rockers bad, couple spots in the floor and drivers can corner. E
What has me most concerned is the rust I see in the kick panels. Scared of what else I’ll find in the cowl area when I tear into it.

My buddy bought this truck in Conway but it was originally purchased right here in Beebe so in a way it’s come back home. This was his fourth truck and after keeping it in a barn for 10-12 years he decided to let it go so he could work on his other projects.

That’s pretty neat. It’s coming full circle for your truck. Rust is a given with these old trucks but I know you sill get it back on the road. Keep at it.

Had a new A/C compressor put on and recharged on Friday. Old one locked up last summer. Nice to have A/C again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Finally got the darn headlights working again. I've been watching a lot of videos trying to psyche myself up for digging into my electrical and was getting ready to install a new front light harness but a buddy of mine showed me what the problem was. He actually pulled each wire out of the headlight sockets and cleaned those up and we cleaned up some ground connections. I also put in a set of PIAA super bass horns and those sound really good. Found a set of wire cutters rusted shut inside my front fender surprised PO wasn't missing those. I know I would have been...

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Took my exterior door handles off and installed the push buttons, springs, and restrainers from a set of driver quality units from a later model.
Installed new shocks on the rear to match up with the 4” drop and shock relocation.
Waiting on parking brake springs to finish up all new rear brakes.
