Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Ripping continues! John got all the old brake lines out today, making room for all the new ones from the new master cylinder to all 4 wheels on the one ton axles. Welded up some nice brackets for the rear disc caliper brake hoses also! I got all the bolts back in the outer grille assy, and remounted the headlight buckets and lights! Planning on finishing up the rear frame bumper brackets/shackle flip area tommorrow. Hoping to be able to be mobile again by this weekend. (I am on vacation all next week, and hoping to be able to run the K5 for some fun!)

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got the rear frame/bumper brackets painted today. All the brake lines bent and mounted on the rear 14 bolt, and started running line to the front. Replaced one adjuster screw on the passenger headlight also. Really doesn't sound like much, but means a lot to me!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yep, things looking up today! New brakes lines all plumbed up and bled. Front and rear driveshafts cut down to size-just need to finish weld them. Minor problem with the rear driveshaft angle, gonna have to drop the transfer case crossmember down 3/4" or so to improve it. I figure it will do for now, until I can upgrade to HAD's cv shafts! Need to weld on the rear 14 bolt axle perches once the angle is set, and the rear shock mounts on the axle tube. It was nice that I could reuse my old shocks front and rear for now, saved me some $$. John said he is looking to bolt on the rolling stock and have it back outside in the sunlight tommorrow! Other than a few small odds and ends, THIS part of STAGE 4 is CLOSE to being DONE, YEAH!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Well it didn't see sunlight today, but it is really close. Got the rear axle spring perches and rear shock mounts welded up. Also finish welded and installed both the front and rear driveshafts! Got all 4 tires/wheels mounted with brand new lug nuts. Got some work to do on the rear frame/bumper mounts yet, but very close for now. Also have to flush out the power steering pump before we hook it up to the new Brothers quick ratio steering box. Filled front diff, transfer case, sm465 transmission full of new 85/140 gear oil. Still need to fill the 14 bolt rear pig, I bought a 5 gallon jug, might not be enough! Very happy to see it setting on the ground again and not on jack stands! Small tires kinda look funny, but I am ok with it for now! Also replaced the spring and seal for the top loading shifter on my sm465 manual transmission. Hopefully, tommorrow when I get out of work this project will be getting test drove down the road! Oh, I forgot about the alternator swap, going to the 1 wire setup and possibly moving it over to the passenger side to make more room for the 1 ton booster setup. Very close to bringing it home again, been in the shop since April. READY!!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
OH yeah! K5 is not sitting in the driveway, but sitting in the yard on top of the hill! Complete 1 ton axle upgrade done. Dana 60 front and 14 bolt full f loat rear diff installed and plumbed up. All new brake lines, etc,. Drove it tonight and felt real good! NP205 w/twin sticks also worked great! 1ton brake upgrade works good, may need to drive it some more and bleed the lines again. Very , very happy to have this baby back home again. Lot's more to do but I will stick it back in the pole barn and stock up on some funds for the the next step of stage 4! CHAOS OFF ROAD SHOP ROCKS!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Outstanding. Hard to beat that feeling of taking a project for a ride after a major re-do. Driving mine home from the body shop this morning and parking it in the driveway was one of the best block and a half drives I ever had. We both hit big milestones today. Congrats.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's hgs! Any pic's of yours coming home? I don't know what happened here but the site wont let me post pic's without resizing them every time. Used to let me post 5 pic's rather easy, now just one at a time after resizing it. Maybe it's my camera or maybe it's just me but real pain in the rear trying to figure it out! I did put the K5 back in the pole barn tonight, good to see the upgrades completed! On to the next step! I have new pic's, but can't figure out how to post them up!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
I used photobucket so posting pics isn't an issue. I only load pics to the sight directly when its coming from my phone. Bunch of pics on my jimmy build thread from in the paint booth and my driveway and garage.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
I had the same problem posting pic's, I couldn't post them without resizing. I think it's because of the new server their transferring over to. Now it seems to be ok for me.
Nice progress on the K5 |

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Yes, thank's Flick. I have been searching and pricing tires for a while now, ouch! This is going to be real pricey! John at CHAOS OFF ROAD is designing my rear bumper already! Just need to save some funds up for the next trip in the shop!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Right on Flick! that's funny! I got married once -to an awesome woman, 26 years ago actually, I think I'll keep her. No price break on tires though, but she does help out with the build $$! And, she loves my K5 and wheeling it almost as much as me! We are both very happy to get this far in the build. Hard to progress any faster- what with other parts of life that need attention. The list is too long to proceed. I will prevail! and finish this K5 the way I want it done!
