I have done all of the air removal tips. Reservoir is located well above pump.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

So here is the times we live in, during a pretty heavy footed test drive today the ECM throws a code that is common for motors with superchargers. So I text my tuner at 9:30pm to see if he was familiar with it and of course he was.

He emailed me my new tune by 9:45, cool times!

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Been an eventful day, started off getting the truck inspected, all went well. From there went to get the front end aligned, had it pretty close but she does turn better at low speed full turns now, all good. Went to show it to a friend and took him for a little spin, all good. Headed home and stopped to fill her up with gas for the first time, all good.

Started home and when I pushed the clutch in to shift into 3rd the truck noticeably braked, not good, panic moment. Pushed the clutch in again and the truck definitely braked again. Engine RPM was fine temps and all gauges were good. Pulled over to call a tow, could no push the truck by hand while in neutral, not good.

While waiting for tow I tried to push the truck again about 10 minutes later, it was better, 10 minutes after that it was good.

Looked online on my phone and found a guy that had the same thing happen, turns out my push rod for the brake was adjusted too long and I had some brake on all the time which would not let the hydroboost release the pressure and as things heated up (and it was 104 today) more pressure built up and applied the breaks. Towed her home, adjusted rod and all is good. Even got rid of some of the WHINE I was having.

Wife asked what was the problem and I told her My Rod Was Too Long! I'll let you use your imagination after that

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Hope all you Dads had a great Fathers Day.

This is a photo of my Father that my Mom gave me at the beginning of this build and it has hung in my shop during the entire build. This was a year before I was born on one of his elk hunting trips to Colorado. This is also after his battle with cancer which he won!!

Having just finished redoing his truck that is now 50 years old and taking my family for rides this was a bit of an emotional today. My Father bought this truck new in 1966 and I have too many memories to count in this truck including learning to drive at the lake when I was like 10!
Thinking of him now 6 years after his passing, my hope is he is smiling like the picture today, Lovya Pops!

The kids all came out for Fathers Day and I took each of them for a ride, good day. My daughter loves to take pictures so here are some pics from this weekend.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

I haven't cleaned the shop in some time, so I spent the weekend getting the floors clean again. Work benches are steel covered up but I'm gaining on it.

Will be much more enjoyable finishing up all the small stuff with a nice clean shop again like it was when I started.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

This is kind of my memorial wall in the shop, it includes pictures of my dad, original tail gate chains, original gas pedal, original blinker handle and horn button, original parking brake lever, original door handles, front fender badge and rear view mirror.

The mount is an Elk he killed in Colorado.

The board with the days of the week on it is from my Father-in-Laws shop, he had an appliance repair business for over 40 years and that was the call board, had to keep that.

I graduated from Texas Tech University so had to throw some Red Raiders on there as well, they are in the College World Series this week - Guns Up!

I also kept the passenger side fender:

Thanks for sharing all this, very nice touch to the thread.

As for the pics here, seeing the before and after makes me again realize just how beautiful these trucks are. The only major difference between the pics is paint and accessories (wheels, suspension drop, etc)
Show me a modern day truck that can look THAT good that keeps the original body and designer's touch! It's no wonder these are becoming more and more popular!

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride

Thanks Chuck,

After 1966 the lines became so much more simplified which is fine, I like the 70's to, but look at how many different paint schemes are used with these trucks and how dramatic even a small drop makes in their appearance.

The rear portion of the cab has some of the sexiest lines out there!

If this truck is not involved in an accident it could easily make another 50 years.

MANNNNNNN......... I wish I had a bigger garage. I'm jealous of your shop. It's proving to be difficult to do what I want in my place. I have a 62 in the side yard and a 63 in the garage. The 63 is my keeper,62 is parts.

I'm still trying to get my truck started and am having issues. If you have any insight head over to my thread and let me know please. If I can get it started and drive it a bit that would be awesome.

Truck came out beautifully and is a great tribute for your Dad. Great back story.

I don't feel worthy to provide input on the badge...if pressed I would vote to leave it off.
