Have answer to one of the questions, via trial - added module and it works.

Follow-up question, will they work on my replacement 350 block, e.g. Are the motor mount in same position from rear of block on a 350, as on a 4.3? Also, do you know what force they are counteracting? E.g. Engine torque rotation or stronger engine/bell housing connection.


Intermittent Wiper Function
One other question, I am changing out the steering column from standard to a tilt one on my 1986' C10, as part of my interior R/R. The tilt column has the intermittent wiper function, however, original did not. To make the intermittent function work, on the tilt column, is it correct thinking, that I need to add only the "intermittent" module to the wiper wiring harness that come out the lower part of the column, and then plug original dash wire harness into module?

The intermittent wiper (IW) module was all that I needed to add to standard wiper (Hi-Lo-Pulse) dash wire harness to make the new column with IWs work. Got the module from my Chevy dealer parts department. These modules were used for many years. Got a new one because they are known to go bad, for some reason.

Connected the wiper wire harness from the lower part of the steering column to one side of module and connected the other side of module to the existing wiper plug from dash wire harness. Very easy.

Les - not sure on the mount location (anecdotally the V6 is just a V8 with the front two cylinders lopped off, which would imply the mounts are in the same location from the rear face of the block).

The braces are to counteract a powertrain "beaming" mode, and provide more support across that engine/bell housing interface.

We did something a little different this year for the 4th of July:

Our local Pontiac club participates in one of the nearby 4th of July parades. By definition, then, I usually bring one of the old Ponchos but this year I thought it might be fun to bring the pickup and let the kids ride along in the back.

They seemed to enjoy it, plus I was parading in air conditioned comfort.

The last pic was pretty much everyone's response to seeing the little red truck in the parade.

LMC door panels question?
Just got mine from LMC and the original chrome door handle insert do not fit as molded. Especially in the door handle area. Did yours fit or did you have to remove some of the material near where the door handle comes through? If removing material does it effect the fastener screws? Your pictures look like screws are correct on yours.

Did read earlier post from around 2010, on LMC door panels.

GM Tech Center Employee car show this past Wednesday.

No brakes on the Grand Prix so Red had to do show duty, too.

Made sense, anyway, since I had to do a Home Depot run on the way home. I wouldn't have been able to do that with one of the Pontiacs...

I went to the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags in Stanton Michigan as a spectator on Friday. http://www.psmcdr.com/

The photos below are what I saw when I came back out.

It’s an ’85 GMC out of Flint (VIN FF717xxx); beautiful paint, probably a fresh restore, including rhino liner in the bed, cowl hood. P255/70 tires.

Could stand to drop down a couple inches…

Hey Keith, great read! I have read about all of your threads here and py, my dad has a 64 GTO we have had since 89 when I was born he had a 68 lemans my grandpa bought new, and another 68 lemans vert.....loved the story's about John Z and the kid on the bike!! He worked with a guy who was a factory line builder for Chevrolet cars I believe and he told him that most employees would order a car as a stripper and secretly build the luxury options as they followed it down the line....

29 years ago today.

Went in to the plant at 4:30pm and it was just coming down out of paint and into the Trim area.

Followed it all the way through the process and left the plant at 1 am Tuesday morning.

From that stage of completion, yes (depending on any other downtime, rolling breaks, etc).

The cab/box would have started probably a day or two ahead of that, in order to be completely welded up and through the paint process where I started with it.

I must have had the build sequence number so that I could track it down. I wish now I had kept all that stuff (build manifest, inspection tickets and such).

Well....I have news.

I sold the red truck.

It all happened kinda fast.

My friend/engine builder had a really nice truck that I have been lusting after for many years. It's an 04 Chevy, crew cab short box, diesel. All set up for pulling trailers, etc. I've had my eye on it for as long as I have known him.

He sent me a text over the weekend that he was (finally!) selling his truck. I originally told him I was not interested but, after agonizing over it all day Sunday I wrote him back saying I would be - IF - my brother in law would be interested in the red truck.

My b-i-l immediately said "yes" so as of this morning I have the check in my pocket and the red truck still in my garage. I think it will probably sit in my garage over the winter and I'll finish up a couple odds and ends that still need to be done.

Looks like a pretty good deal for all those involved.

Cool story i am installing a my-6 in my '68 long step 2wd it has 98 vortec engine. You think it will be driveable with 4.56 ,holley780,hookers i need ideas for roller cam replacement choice

4.56 sounds a little steep, but the powertrain should be a good package.
