Very nice. Cops stop me now days to see whats inside my trailer. Still makes me nervous every time expecting a ticket or they will find something wrong.

It is Ellis Paints - Direct-to-Metal White Base. Its a satin white that is pre mixed and you can spray it right out of the can. water based too.

Dont thin it much at all - i did too much and basically had to wash it all off with a garden hose the first go around. It looks decent in the pics but its kinda splotchy in places. Im sure if I had a paint booth and controlled environment to spray in, it could have been better, but it was a driveway paint job and thats it.

Thanks Joe! - glad you made your way into my little world!

"Amazing" is a bit much but thanks, I did have really big ideas for that grill but had to dial back my expectations just a bit. but it came out ok after it was all done and said. Overall I wanted to keep the truck body exterior looking 'old'... and I didn't want any chrome. The satin Stainless color came out pretty nice. Gonna be some more of that.

Still doing some fine tuning of things here and there before I take the big cruise.... down to the alignment shop!

Haha - yea and its still in primer... it has gotten too cold to paint outside anymore or do anymore bondo work. But its sanded now and ready for some white paint whenever I get another 70* day out....

I have all the metal in the rear bed to complete and the inner fender wells to custom make, so I do have some more winter work to do yet. But once I get it aligned and I can take it for drives to the store or just locally wherever. The dirt this thing kicks up is incredible!!!! needs a bath everytime I take it out.

Got all the 5" intake tubing at a Trucker Supply Store and its all welded up into place and had to make a support rod for it since it hangs out so far off the supercharger.

I had to redo the hat as the 1/4-20 air cleaner rod was not holding the hat on. I spoke with the guys at Extreme Velocity and they said yea you need to get rid of that, drill and thread it 5/16-18 and put in stainless steel rod. It wont stretch when it comes on boost. I was wondering why I kept blowing out the air cleaner paper gaskets no matter how tight it was.

So I drilled it and re-threaded it and put a 5/16 S/S rod in there, a new Fel-Pro composite gasket that is metal lined , double nutted with a nylock too and it holds boost now!

Got all the boost reference lines done in Vibrant poly tubing and quik insert fittings, I love these things! they work great.

And then I got the hood onto the truck finally and it looks almost complete. Needs alot of adjustment but its on for now. I tried riggin up a remote latch release because of my grill but found an easier way. If anybody needs a really nice custom latch release I got one!

Curious to what you came up with for the hood release, due to my intercooler on my truck the factory release is very difficult to open. I really don't want to install hood pins or anything of that nature.

I know your question wasn't directed towards me but I'll throw this out there anyway. I grafted a VW style hood latch in place of the stock one. It's a lot cleaner looking and has a better secondary latch...

Mr. Sheep - gonna have to expand on on your expansion now! - lol what type and years VW latch?, and give us a wider view pic of the latch placement. I may still go that route but couldnt make the remote pull work with the stock latch.

The stock latch on mine I just bent the lifter handle down just a bit more to clear my grill matte material and then cut the grill matte material for the handle to come through it. I also painted the handle satin black so you cant really see it in the grill matte.

Yea me either! --1/4"?? The EV engineer said at 12psi boost there is actually about 300 lbs of pressure lifting up on a 4150 carb throttle body (5" dia). At 30 psi it can be upwards of 750 lbs!!! thats crazy.

My truck now at idle, opens the blow off valve because it is producing boost that goes no where with the throttle plates closed. I thought it was messed up, but before I fixed it, it was blowing past the carb hat gasket.

Learn something new every minute on these things!

Heres my battery box cover that slammed57 built for me - Thanks SO MUCH!!! - it came out real nice with the lifeter handle and powdercoat.

I just have to get my sheetmetal all cut into place so I can mount it up.

This is the latch I used, they can be found used on '85-'92 VW Jettas, Golfs and other models. It is set up for a cable release FWIW.

Keep in mind that the filler between the radiator and the grille is different on a '56 and '58 so installing one might be a little different. I cut out the oval shape in the filler panel and welded in the lower latch from underneath. The upper latch was bolted to the existing under hood latch plate, only minor shimming and trimming was necessary.

Wow thanks I'll have to look at mine now. I've been thinking of doing a boost leak test, just to see if everything is good.
