Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
It would have to go in the area where the speaker is housed. Not quite sure how you'd do it as there's no flat surfaces left. Look at most home stereo speakers and you'll see what is needed. There's almost always a 2" pvc pipe somewhere on the speaker. It's really just for that deep bass jug effect.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
OK, I'm tryin' to shift back into Blazer mode. I'm kickin' myself for not knockin' it out while I was off work. This new job is kinda like having 20 jobs rolled into one so its really been eating up all my time. Well not all it is summer now, mowing, weed eating, painting, staining, all that crap, lol.
I have managed to get some parts over to the powder coat guy and the Softopper top is on the way. The chrome was bad on the roll bar and spot light and the rubber stuff I used on the push bar just didn't look right. Hopefully I'll get back to work on it soon. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
I'm trying to, lol.
If I'd get off my ... It took awhile but should be well worth the wait. They aren't slow, it was custom ordered. Not that I can mount it up yet but its nice to have it. I was able to order it without emblems on the sides but my order sheet said, "NO EMBLEMS". So maybe it won't have any. I'm happy that they would sell it to me that way too. I'm all for advertising but I wanted a clean look without being all badged up. Ya know I haven't said what "IT" is, lol. Its my soft top from Softopper.com. Yep they let me get it without badging. I'll be sending pics to them when its all done. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Finally found a few minutes this morning before work to wrench. Took the front calipers off, took the rear shoes off, got one side back together. I need to find some info on putting the front back together. I've got new front wheel joints to put in. I need the torque specs for the big nut behind the lock out. I found one caliper is broken, lol. They took it back anyways. Went ahead and put in new rear wheel cylinders too. I still have the rear drivers to put together and the back is done. Except for bleeding.
I didn't take the time to pretty it up behind the drum. I figure it'll look like it did in the first pic within' a few months anyways. Last edited by Big J; 05-27-2010 at 01:04 AM. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
I forgot the camera today but more progress was made. Got the rear drums done except for a brake line I broke, lol. It looked original and refused to let go. Ran the lines to vent the gas tank too. I used the factory whatchamacallit thing that sits next to the fuel fill on the inside of the bed. Picked up a canister to put up front to hook it up to, just the canister, not the engine. Then I started tearing apart the front end.... Thats it until Tuesday.... Then back at it.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Got the brakes done, had to replace the master cylinder. It had went bad from sitting for so long. It only had 1 mile on it, lol. Maybe..... Replaced the u joints in the front axle too. Pulled the front diff cover to put one of those chrome for a month covers on, looks shiny for now. A big thanks goes out to jamie72 for coming over and helping get the brakes lined out. I need to build a door now! I was actually able to pull the Blazer up a couple feet and then back it up a couple! It was GREAT! Thats the first time I've moved it under its own power since this phase of the build has started. Now for a door so I can drive it around the yard, lol. Workin' on it outside under the shade tree would be cool too. I need to bust out the pressure washer and do the frame and drive train, can't do that in the garage, lol.
The new seat is a little tall, kinda hard and will suck when going around a curve but it works. Last edited by Big J; 06-30-2010 at 10:39 AM. |

Just change the seat wheels to those ones that have locks and you'll be good to go! Congrats on the very short drive. Way to let up on the brake pedal! Woohoo!

On a good note, I got the garage moved around a bit and built a door to actually get the blazer out. Drove it around the yard today for like an hour, lol. Got the seats in, just not bolted down, haha. Just need to fix a couple dings I missed, wet sand the whole thing with 600 and shoot some paint. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Worked on the interior panels today. Not what I was wanting to do but funds are short and I want it on the road. When I get the extra dough I'll pull them out and toss on some upholstery. Rustoleum roll on bed liner.
