LOL I figured it was worth a try Mike. Good idea getting a rust free cab next time, I should have done the same thing, my truck would be done right now.

Great work! I much rather do mechanical work as well. But i'm too poor to pay a body man and I'll prolly beat the body man done any way. So I attempt to do my own just like you. Keep at it!

It's all good Drew. I think it will look good too, unfortunately the bodywork is being done by me, so it won't be show quality.

I'm with you on starting with a better base is the way to go. I think I have over 200 hours in this cab now

I used to think bodywork was easier. Now I'm thinking wrenching is the easy part.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Been a busy last week or so. I have been cracking on this cab. I know you guys are probably tired of looking at the pictures of it, I know I'm tired of it myself.
Pictures:

Got the interior stripped to bare metal

Epoxy primered the whole inside

Coated the floor with Por-15

Re: 1969 Short Wide

After that I flipped the cab up on the back (hopefully the last time).
Then I coated it with Raptor urethane bed liner made by Upol. I mixed in the micro spheres to create a thermal barrier. At least that is what I hoped to do. I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you buy some reducer or thinner for the Raptor. It get's too thick which makes it not shoot very good, kinda comes out in globs.
The kit comes with a gun to shoot it. I was able to put one coat on the whole bottom with the mix, then used a new bottle to coat it with a second coat. It turned out pretty good overall. I keep telling myself, only guys like me are gonna crawl under there and look at the bottom of the cab

Got the doors stripped while I was between coats.

Laid the high build primer. Time to start blocking.

Thanks Kyle. I'm counting on your help in the material department

I'm going to try to get the doors knocked out and mounted before I shoot the outside of the cab but I want to shoot the inside soon. Just a reward for all the hours spent on this thing.

Looking good Mike. I'm sure that was fun sanding the inside of your cab. That's a task I'm not looking forward to myself.

I found the best deal from TPC Global on Ebay. I think it was around $119 shipped for enough to do any size bed. I am only doing the floor in my bed so I should have enough left to do it.

Thanks guys. I got a little distracted last night. Had to change my prop shaft on the outboard AGAIN! Boat: Acronym for Break Out Another Thousand. Anyone that owns a boat will tell you they are bottomless money pits......kinda like these old trucks.

Should be back on the project tonight.

Nothing like wrenching on an Outboard.... Been there lots of times. Your truck is looking great. Glad you went with the raptor?

I got it all put back together and test drove it on the lake tonight. Good to go for the tourney on Saturday. I obviously have some issues though. I have lose about 6mph at WOT. I'll be doing a tune up soon.

Yes on the Raptor. I really like the finished results. It is super easy to apply. I think it will be far superior to the oem undercoating.
It should insulate better and kill the tinny sound. I really wish I had purchased some reducer though. I added the micro insulation and it just got too thick to shoot effectively. I ended up rolling part of the first coat to get it to lay down. I will use the fat mat liquid and some type of Dynomat or similar over it on the inside. I think after carpet the sound from the floor should be way better than original setup.
