LFD's low buck truck build!

I'd like to see some photo shopped pics of the two wheel colors. Its a hard choice. I can picture both and both look good in my head..... White would even look good with the white top you've got. Hmmmm, white,. Maybe someone will post up some visuals for ya. Btw this build is awesome and thanks for the how to on the tailgate handle flip. I'll be doing that to my K5.

I think white would look good too. Those shiny beauty rings and caps would offset the white nicely. Whatever you do please don't paint them the color of the truck . IMO that would just be too much blue.

The factory Argent Silver wheel color goes with anything. Of course it's your call. Myself, I like the old style polished aluminum slots. Since you've gone over your intended budget anyway, how bout it?

Sorry guys go back to page 1, had slots and worked hard to find these ralley's in 6.5" fronts and 8" rears! They are staying and I think I will get them powder coted grey/silver.

A wise choice although the powder-coating is going to get ruined from the trim ring retaining clips. That's why I always used rattle-can stuff.... it's easier to touch up.

Well no progress on the truck today but I got alot of other things done. I pulled the motor out of Slow Build (new owner is putting in a 7L out of a new Tahoe) and got it all ready for the new owner to have picked up. I moved things around the yard to make some more room and to get project Trazer back in the shop so I can get started on it again. The owner has been great while I have been finishing up LowBuck but it is tiime to get it done!

I got my cover for LowBuck but need to send it back to get the mirror pockets and antena sleeve put on. It fits well and is designed for out side sun, rain and snow with out scratching the finish.

Like the Logo!

Fits well and should stay nice and tight.

Perfect fit for the bed and bumper as well.


Trazer all ready for it turn again!




I hopoe to have the trim finished up this week so when it goes out for glass (now I can get it out of the yard since the clean up) next friday!

I know but I don't plan on them comming off even for cleanings After all this is my dump running truck right!

I have a guy in West Sac that is 35 per wheel for coating and 10 per wheel for sand blasting. Right now is does not have alot of work so I know it would be a one day turn around as well.

I need that guys info. I have a few parts I need done. Will that powder coat work on control arms? I wasn't sure if they could be reheated.

Yes they can, it is not hot enough to hurt anything. I will get the contact info for you. A friend use's him a few time a month and he is my contact guy.

Well more progress tonight. I worked on the rear trim and lights so when it gets back from the glass shop this weekend it will almost be ready to go. Then next Friday it gets the Line-X sprayed in and after that I wil be waiting for the seat and door panels to get custom stitched. I found the Upholistrey shop today that will be doing a Black on Black custom job on the 88 chevy 60/40 split bench and the door panels. They will be done in a synthetic leather and Ostritch (SP?). I could drop it off in the morning but I forgot to order my seat warmers so I will be a week or so behind now. The shop is called WWW.supremeinteriors.com and I was to say the least extremly impressed with the shop, employee's and the owner who I spent about 1 1/2hrs getting to know. I will try and get a few in-progress pics of the seat work for you all. Another 4hrs to the paint list!

Ok now onto tonights progress.

I started off with the factory book for hole spacing and size.



Then I put on some blue tape to protect the paint while I started lining things up for marking. I started with the wheel opening piece and driled the top center hole first to lock it in place.



Next I taped on the sides and lined it up about where I wanted it to go. I keeped the body line spacing as close as I could but focused more on aligning it with the door trim. It all worked out good but the pics look off because of the curved cab corner piece but they do line up well.





Then I marked the top and bottom of the trim, measured and marked the center, then spaced the holes according to the shop book. I started with a small pilot hole then the final hole for the clips.





Then came the fun part, making the clips line up with the holes! Once they all fit I took some caulking and but a bead around the stud so once it went in the holes it would seal the hole and lock the nut in place as well. You can see by the little bit that came out of the nut that I had full coverage.





Here is the finished trim all tightened up and ready for the road!!

The lights are almost done as well. I decided that I will pull them out in the morning and line the inside of the housing with aluminum tape for more light reflection. I have done this in the past with really good results. I will show some pics of what I am talking about once I get them finished up.

Here are the rear side lights. They turned out really good, fit tight and flush with the body.







The tail lights also fit well and they are just inside the body like I wanted them. They started out sticking out about and 1/8" at the top and about a 1/4" at the bottom just like most stock lights do. I did a few mods to the buckets to get them how I wanted. I think it was well worth the time.

Ok I spent a few hours going thru my notes this morning and updated all my hours and costs so far on this build. I think I need to stop slacking because my paint (body work and metal work) hours are almost as much as the main build hours. But I guess this is a good thing to show people just what goes into a half @ss red neck paint job
