Re: 1969 Short Wide
It is a very healthy obsession, i agree there!! although some wives may not agree. still better than the alternatives in my opinion. And we get to build artwork in a way. as for the skeletons, i agree there, a person sometimes wonder what the F ppl did to these trucks, some are cared for, others are not!!! oh well, we make them have a new life all togehter!

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Holly crap man! That definitely looks like some one had water or very diluted antifreeze in it, and obviously the block broke. I have a guy that has a sweet TBI 350 with 105k on it he'd sell reasonable. I can get you pics if you want.

Don't sweat it Ryan. HMC dug that series of photos up from the first page of this thread. We are good to go in the drivetrain department. That block was in the truck when I bought this project. A bunch has changed since that day. Hard to believe this is my third winter on this thing.?? |

Oh, wow, I didn't realize that. I figured it was just a part I missed recently.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
More progress. I fixed a rust spot that was under the cowl area. Then shaved the majority of the firewall. I still have a few holes to fill but it's mostly done. I'm guessing it takes a couple thousand tack welds if you guys decide to do this. I tried a small area with quick welding and it worped quick. So you want to spread your welds out and not get too much heat in a small area. Then you can plan on about a few hours of grinding. I think it's worth the extra time. It will clean up the engine bay a little.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Nice work! Love the firewall with the gutter capped like that! Reminds me of my old cab I remember all the grinding....hours and hours of it between the firewall and driprails...

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I hope to have some paint on this cab by the end April. It will take a bunch of time but I'm gonna try to make it happen.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Nice work on the firewall Mike. I like the look of the sloped top cap. It really cleans up the look.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Thanks Drew, As of right now going with the steel floor I already have. One of these days I would like to install a nice wood floor, but right now I just want a return on my "investment".
Thanks Mike, It took me a little time to do but I think it will look really nice with shiney red paint |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Hey Mike, what gauge sheetmetal are you using for your patches, if you don't mind sharing some info?
