I borrowed it from a guy who built it for his '57 truck. Works great, will also do the frame.

I put the hood back on, made some wood blocks to get the bed steps level with the cab, took her around the block and smoked the tires just cause I can.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

While the hubby is away, the wifey will play!
I took off the rear fenders and went about setting up a game plan on how to get everything out of the bed... but still having trouble since everything is so rusted and decayed. Anyone have any good ideas on how to go about doing that?

Also, quickly realizing that our two car garage is quickly running out of room... Ugh.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Pull the bed or resign yourself to hours of quality time laying under there with a die grinder cutting off the bed strip bolts, there is about 50 or 60 of them, all rusted, recessed in the bed cross sills.

Today I wire wheeled, welded, and did body work on my bed strips. While the JB weld was setting I dug out the door parts and cleaned them. Glad I had rat holed away extra regulators and parts over the years, found out one of mine had a hidden repair that was failing. Need new rollers, otherwise in pretty good shape. Tomorrow am going to modify these parts for one piece windows.

Don't bother crawling under there to cut those bolts. Smash the rotten wood out with a big hammer, most likely it will crumble, and then you can get to the bolts to cut with angle granger or sawmill or whatever you choice. This is how I did it and it took no time at all. Just have to sweep up the mess after.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Started putting together the rear end and realized I did not follow my own rules - bag all the parts and hold on to everything. Seems I threw out the rubber boots that go over my '97 Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end. So off to the junk yard this weekend to grab 2 more.

Brake booster has been mocked up, motor and transmission are in, rebuilt the distributor with the Pertronix Ignitier II, and awaiting for the harness.

Still not close enough to make the Nationals here, but we are coming to the end.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I worked on my center console (MDF and aluminum). At some point I will wrap it all in black leather.
I still need to cut in for cup holders and a door for a storage compartment. The flow follows the contour of my bucket seats and the counsole will mount to my custom lower dash panel.

Looks good. I think it will match your truck nicely.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Took my old beast for a 60 mile spin around town and realized it would be a lot more fun in this AZ heat if I would get on putting in an ac system, but 1600 miles on it now and no real problems to speak of yet.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Got the original cigar lighter I purchased working, contacts needed cleaned up. Painted bumper brackets and some other misc. parts. Got the headlight trim rings ready for primer. Inventoried electrical wiring stuff and started mods on from turn signal housing for dual filiament bulbs. Body work on back of bed at the old hinge bolt locations. As you can see I am at that "lots of small tasks" to do and am going in circles as I complete a stage in each one!
