Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Thanks.., about the clearance my set up will work because i am running 18'' wheels in the front and its is lowered but not laying frame like on an air bag set up. Clearance issues will occur if you run a big wheel up front like say a 24"++ and you have an air bag laying frame, then the pockets will interfere.
I took a few pics of the current driving ride height and this gives me like 5-6" of travel so i have planty of room to spare

I have one question.
Aren't your wheels going to have to be WAY inside the fenders for them to clear the "pocket" you added?
Looks like they will have to to be 3"-4" inside the fender.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Thanks , good looking out Gordon
As far as updates I'm still finishing up the second tub. After that I need to weld in a pop up gas cap, to replace the original the pop up gas cap is pretty cool its off a motorcycle. It's what they use on custome motorcycle gas tanks . Il post pics of it later.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

here is the gas cap. its a weld in pop up gas cap, the bung is steel and the cap is aluminum. These are a popular mod in the motorcycle scene.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

i will be installing the gas cap in the same stock location passenger side because i already have that set up, i wanted to relocate it all together and place the gas cap in the bed floor towards the back near the tail gate but this would not work because i would need a fuel cell and the fuel cell would block the exhaust pipes exiting out through the location i plan on using, i will exit my pipes like the corvettes do out the back bumper area, im already having issues as is with the lowered suspension you cant go over the top of the axle but i figured out a way to accomplish this

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Thats a nice cap, so to open ,do you just unscrew it? Or do you have to push down and twist?

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

yes its a pop up gas cap, the idea is you push in then it pops out then you just unscrew it like a normal cap. the only limitations of this cap in order to work is that you need a rather flat surface to sit flush, you could probly make it work on a radius but it wouldn't look as good

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

finally got around completing the tubs and the mounting area where it bolts from core support to tub, i cut out the old mount area left about a 1/2 trim then i laid a new piece of sheet metal following the tub contours cus it tapers then made 2 new holes rather than the 3, i think it looks like stock like if it was never moded, for the hardware i went with stainless button head bolts

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

before. The holes where off so i patch the tub and fabd a new mount, desided to bolt down with a lock nut rather than the blind nuts on top
