Next thing on the list is getting the rear done. I don't know if I want to run a roll pan or just a color matched bumper. I've never been a big fan of roll pans on 2 door Tahoes. Having a roll pan on these really accentuates the fuel tank. But we'll see.

The shop that painted my grille and bumper told me they can order a rear bumper cap that's completely smooth. It would get rid of the step pads and outer trim.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

I think the bumper would look good on it. I like the roll pans, but I agree with you. There is just something about the tahoes that just don't look right to me with a roll pan.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

I vote color matched bumper for functionality and to keep that damn tank hidden.

What I always wanted to do with my old Yukon (and wouldn't mind doing with my Suburban) is to take 2 bumpers and weld them together so that they're straight all the way across without the recessed tag area. Then french in a license plate box like a rollpan.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Here's one I saw at a show years ago. This is what I would like to do, but I would rather have a more frenched tag box like a Sir Mike's steel rollpan has.

That looks like it's been shortened/tucked in to the body a little bit. Nice.

It's beyond just that. It's been sectioned so it doesn't stick out as far and tucked up closer to the body, but it was made from 2 bumpers welded together to eliminate the recessed area for the license plate the stock bumpers have. Then they welded in the ugly license plate box.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Here's the bumper from a friend of mine on another forum. It's the same concept, welding 2 bumpers together and sectioning them and all that, but I think it's a much better looking execution than that first one I posted. He went this route because rollpans are illegal in Hawaii.

That is very nice. I definitely like the plate box better on the second one.

I've made up my mind, I'm going to go with one of these smooth style covers. They're so clean looking.

I'm also going to see about re-drilling some bolt holes and move the factory bumper up just slightly.

Here's my 90 GMC 3500. Not sure of complete plans yet but would like to spray it with black from body line up and white down. Possible air ride if I keep it that long.

88ride1, looks good! Gotta say that I like it better without the sidepipes.

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

Thanks .....

It's nothing special.
Just a 4/6 drop via DJM on 225/75/15's. It's my daily driver / grocery / parts getter so it works for me. I'll more than likely throw some 18" wheels & tires on her to fill the empty fender space later this fall.
