Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Well I finally bit the bullet and painted the emblems...the chrome man said clean it and just paint it, another paint guy said just paint it, and the local body shop guy said just paint it...so dang it ,I just painted it..
Got some really fine brushes at the paint store but they didnt work to good..so the local guy said just slobber the paint all over the wording and before it dries wipe it off the chrome...well that worked great.. So I did 3 "applications " of painting and wiping...it worked out well..then I set them over my heater to help bake the enamel...I'm hollering calfrope on it...now I just need a painted truck to hang em on...

Thaks Regan...
I looked for those needle bottles in town but couldnt find any...I get a little impatient at times..after talking to the local body man, he made it sound simple...just paint and wipe...I also tend to overthink things at times...

Greg
When I was in Fl last month we went to a big show that had all kinds of tractors, trucks and whatnot. I was just pulling pics off my phone and forgot I had taken pics of this one .

It did not have a bed and I did not see one floating around the room either.
It was in the International room. This is where we were. I think they have a FB page. .

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Got started on the temp paint booth...
I Got 2 of these fans that pull 1525cfm each...I'm hoping thatll be enough to get the fumes outta the temp paint booth.. made 2 of these filter boxes 24x30...still have to fab a flange for the back side to hook the fan ducts to... the temp paint booth will be made from clear plastic..I ran a couple 1/8" cables front to back of my shop 12ft apart to hang the plastic from...so the final booth will be 10ft tall, 12ft wide and 25 ft long.. Maybe this'll work..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Mango,
I’m an engineer so forgive me. Your room dimensions indicate about 3000 cubic feet. Those fans would give you a full exchange every minute if your filters can pass enough air. That should be pretty good but I’m sure you are still planning on wearing a respirator. Photos of your setup as I have been thinking ahead and down this path as well.

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Well this SUCKS..!!!............ but in a good way..!!
Stopped by Lowe's and picked up a couple of duct flanges..of course they have nothing to match the 11-1/4" duct that came with my exhaust fans...so I bought the 12in ones, drilled out the rivets and squooze it down to 11in...they fit good now...mounted them on the boxes and gave it a wirl...pulls fairly good...I just hope its gonna be enough...itll suck a sheet of paper up to the filters...HVAC guy at work says I may need a more free flowing filter cause what I have may be to restrictive...I'll see how it goes with what I have first though...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
got a couple of interesting items from the Wisconsin historical society
IH used a LST (aka Line Set Ticket) when they built their trucks... on a whim I contacted them to see if they had the records...well they did.. a small donation and they emailed me scans of the originals A LST in the IH world is a pretty neat thing to have.. here is the one for Columbus...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Those are so cool!
That's one of the things so awesome about old Pontiacs, the PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) has copies of everything for every car. I got a copy of the build sheet and the dealer sticker. I also have the original title, the original bill of sale (a 64 Chevy 4 door was traded in) and the original build sheet from the original owner. What sucks is my car was just a plain Jane OHC six car. It's all cool to look at, but pretty much worthless

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Not much progress as of late...just little things...got the gas tank liner done and painted the tank, and started wiring the engine...it took much longer than it should have, but it was because of me moving things around on the engine...relocating the coils, throttle and maf ment I had to pull those wires out of the harness and reroute them..then I accidentally pulled the injector plugs wires out of one of the plugs...dang it..then when I went to plug in the map sensor I realized the map sensor plug lock was broken off..so I'll have to pick up a new one...
Next will be trying to find a location for the ecm and wire the truck side of the harness... Still also trying to get the temp paint booth ready..looks like I'm gonna get a break from work for a couple of weeks and I'd sure like to get some paint on it...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..
Another little bit done .. I had bought that column saver thinking it would fit the firewall, but it wasn't gonna work like I thought..I was gonna have to close up the old hole in the firewall anyway, so I made a mount thatll work with the colum saver and close up the hole at the same time..
