Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Did a lot of little things, but the biggest one was I installed an HEI distributor.
Way too nice for my turd, but it runs like a champ

Drove it to get a bunch of wood and iron to replace a couple of old crumbling gates.

Thanks! Yes, bending my own. It’s the NiCopp line and bends/flares amazingly easy. Using it makes me wonder why people use SS? I wrapped my lines in SS spring rock guard from inline tube and it gives the NiCopp a decent amount of rigidity. My previous experience bending SS was not so pleasant.

Haha! We are all in the same boat, plugging away. On occasion we see a few guys who are able to move along at a more rapid pace. I have found slowly moving along allows for better planning. You will get there, we all will. Slowly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

What i did was go to my storage garage and do my mid Winter stare my truck and make sure she looks as good as when I parked her inside in October. Then came home and ordered my new steering wheel to replace the LeCarra one that is on the truck which I had on my pink /white truck as well. Got that LeCarra in 2006 so time for a change. I had my mind made up to get this one and the when the new original style 15 inch one came out I thought I might like that better but decided to stick with original plan.

Same with yours! It’s always nice to get some motivation in person. Right now I am close to a roller. I have been keeping up with your latest build. It’s coming along plenty fast. Once I get a little further along and get my truck all in one place I will let you know.

We drilled for moldings today. It went well. The mock-up is about there, a few simple things to do yet. I'm looking forward to tearing it down for paint. We'll have the body rebuilt December or sooner. It's almost close

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Rear brakes done including new parking brake cables so no more wheel chocking. Parking brake works even if the rest do not yet.

All I have left on the rear is new brake lines and bump stops.

Anyone know where you can get bump stops for lowered trucks? I saw them online once and now I can’t seem to find or remember where.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Drove to the storage yard and took the batteries out of the trailer to take back home to charge them. Some poor sap was backing his trailer into his spot and hit another vehicle...one of those tall Mercedes units. He only scraped the paint, but you know that that is going to cost a mint. He asked me to spot for him, and I did, so we got the trailer back into his parking space without further damaging the adjacent unit...or his.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I had a leaky stamped steel valve cover, so used it as an opportunity to get some Chevy LT-1 7-rib cast aluminum ones. GM Performance P/Ns 474207 & 474208. Fel-Pro VS 12869 T gaskets. 1-1/2 x 20" stainless bolts cut down to 1-1/4" did the trick. Bolted on this evening. Fancy for a farm truck, but I should pick up a few HP with these valve covers, yes?

That's a Mr. Gasket fuel 1-6 psi regulator on the fuel line (P/N 9710). The Edelbrock 1405 can handle no more than 4-5 psi, otherwise I get a very strong gas smell.

Moved it out of storage and to the lift. Put the new 20” Torque Thrust’s on it and I dig the new ride height.... the rear bumper AAA sticker is RaD too.

The height looks cool , but what’s your LCA ground clearance?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the back end of mine all done except bump stops and brake lines. Replaced the last frame cross member as mine was bent up pretty bad. Buddy that I bought my truck from has an old 68 frame so I got it from him. Strppied, primer, painted and bolted it in.
Doing some scrubbing on the rust now and will start front end work soon.
