if that was the plan in the first place, the old engine was just a method to keep it moving till you have time to install the LS, then it doesn't make sense to throw any cash at the other engine. better to spend money in a forward direction towards a finished truck rather than sideways to keep it running or backwards by spending money on something you don't really want anyway. this will allow you to get what you want and be cheaper overall anyway. sell the old one to somebody who wants to rebuild it.

I'm glad you asked, I realize for most it is somewhere between a Root Canal and a Reverse Vasectomy, but The Greg actually enjoys the wiring part and finds it therapeutic, so our Fun Level is a solid 4 out of 5 (adjusted for summer time 100° F weather)

Though I use lt1swap.com as a reference I do not intend to keep the original factory harness layout and plan on rerouting all my sensor wires, hiding some, and making them as the young bloods would say: trick!

5. 25 feet VANS 3/8th steel braided line for fuel and transmission lines ($50.21 - AMAZON)


6. Earl's 940006ERL transmission 1/4-18 NPSM to -6 AN line adapters (AMAZON)

7. Russell 640853 -6 AN Male to 3/8" SAE and Russell 640863 -6 AN Male to 5/16" SAE Quick-Disconnect Female Push-On EFI Fittings adapters (AMAZON)

8. LSX OPSA125SS oil pressure sending unit metric to non metric adaptor (as this LS generation does NOT monitor oil pressure via the komputer, Suprise!) so we are left with using our own oil pressure clock (AMAZON)

these are the motor mounts we procured we like them because of their clever name of course, and it has nothing to do with them being steel or the adjustability factor, ha ha, of course the rear pointing arrow will make install a breeze ;-)

Just a Note to Self on how I go about thinning out the wiring harness. What I know I learned from LT1Swap.com and for that I am grateful, this method achieves the exact same thing it just goes about it differently. Where as he goes PIN by PIN in numerical order, I choose to remove wires sensor by sensor so I can wrap my mind around what I am doing.

Note: some sensor plugs have wires that run to both the Blue and Green PCM connectors, others have wires that may only run to one or the other.
Step 1. Remove all shielding, conduit, and sticky yucky black electrical tape

Step 2. gently remove the fragile brittle PCM gray covers (expect to break some tabs if it is your first Rodeo, you can go to the junkyard and get replacements or buy them online) remove either the Blue and Green (2003-2007) connector covers or the Blue and Red (1999-2002) based on what year you got the donor out of.

Step 3. cut off all connectors except for the pig ones that go to the PCM and the TAC Module for the Electronic Throttle Control if you have a drive by wire harness (Blue and Green connector)

Step 4. Remove the Oil Pressure plug and it's three wires (remember the oil pressure sensor does not talk to the PCM directly in this Gen of LS engines)

Step 5. Remove the single thick (12 gauge?) starter connector and it's purple wire

Step 6. optional Remove the Oil Level plug (this is the one that goes to the oil pan) brown wire

these truck LS(ish) engines love to nibble on the undersized metric exhaust manifold bolts, so I remembered to chase all the hole with a thread cleaner and make sure I can screw all of them in and out easily by hand - if you find a broken one, and it's all to common, you can use the weld a nut to it trick as the bolt is stell and the head is aluminum so your weld won't stick to it, and that's whole lotta easier to perform with the engine outside the truck

so my Dingo engine mounts showed up today, and right from the time I lifted the heavy box and opened it to see quality wrapping and packaging they reaked of QUALITY, nice steel plates, powder coated even I recon

I really want to run the stock exhaust manifolds as the 2004 ones don't have the ugly EGR apendages on them and to keep costs down, but I tried the passenger side one and sure enough one of the three down pipe studs on the manifold kisses the old stock truck frame rail, it's not a perfect test because the trans isn't in the proper position, it was just to get a quick looksie, I may trim it some as it is not the Camaro front clip that's interfering but the old overhanging truck frame piece

here's a peak at the Camaro front end under it
