Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Now the next set of photos are of Donnie latest project, a LS1 powered '73 Porche 914. He still has his Big Block Chevy powered '57 Chevy truck but he will finish that project at a later date, and I'll put some update photos of his 496 powered '55 Bel Air later

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

I like the 55 well enough but something about the Porsche leaves me tingly below the belt buckle. I love the odd cars. The stranger the better. I usually walk past the stock mustangs and chevelles at car shows. But an LS3 blown Fiero or a rotary Mazda engine in an Austin Healy Sprite? Awesome.

You aren't the only one, at some of the local cruise nights the reaction to his Porsche is usually people walk right past it, then they do a double take and say "WHAT THE..... HEY HOW'D YOU DO THAT? Or when he drives by they are wondering where is that rumbling sound coming from

Thanks for droppin' by OKGMC4

6DoF I can't remember if I heard Donnie correctly but I think he is going to do the intake a little differently after the body and paint is done and mount the intake and air filter in an outward position that makes it poke thru the hood.

Thanks for stoppin' by

Some images taken by me & my partner in crime Bam. His longtime build is done and clocking miles on it. His truck page is Kabwe's aka Bam's build if you want to check it out.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

BC - I was going to ask how you expect the transaxle in the 914 to survive behind that V8 but then I realized (I think!) you probably swapped out the original 915 trans for a Carrera-era Gertrag five speed? If I remember my Porsche days correctly that Gertrag is the same (+/-) as went into Camaros of that era?

When I was in college the rich kid that lived down the street from my then girlfriend had a yellow 914-6 with the square flares you are using and I was head over heels in love with it. I SO wish I would have thought to ask him to contact me before selling it. Not that I would have had the money for it. Probably would have cost like $5,000 in those days - all the money in the world to me then.

Can't wait to see how yours comes out Hey, if you ever want to sell it.........!

Dan,

The 914 Porshe is not BC's it belongs to a buddy of ours name Donnie. That is is 55 Belaire also. Anyway to answer you question, Donnie has a 6 Speed Trans G86/20 out of a 2001 Boxster that is going in the 914. He has be driving and enjoying the 914 for the pass month are so.
