Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

Here is one I just bought. I am planning a 5.3 conversion in the very near future.

Now that's a cool tow rig!

Depending on what you're going to tow with it, I would think you would want bigger than a 5.3, maybe even a diesel.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I have a 385HP and 460FPT 5.3 ready to go in as we speak. The truck has a tired 350 with 210 HP 23 years ago in it now. I have towed a 28 foot trailer with car that weighed 9500 with it already....anything is better than what is in it now. I am looking to do the swap for less than $2000 total and am well on my way to that goal as we speak.

Excellent.

Other than the 5.3, what are you having to take with it? Transmission? Computer? Wiring harness?

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I am using the complete 5.3, harness, computer, trans, radiator(I hope I have not measured it yet) and it all came from the same truck. The headers, TB and intake came from a previous build I did and saved the parts. The cam is the only part I bought new so far. It is a custom grind torque monster from an LS guy locally.

Re: Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks

I just bought this over the weekend for a Ben Franklin. Theres not much rust other than the rocker panels. My plans for it are as follows: 5.3FI conversion, 4-6 drop or something close, 5lug conversion, 20-22's and of course a real bed. I just finished a Jeep Cherokee build but I am lost on this stuff, any guidance will be much appreciated.

I know you are just a newbie here and if start looking around you will see that there is a thread here that talks about what we ride. I ride my bike 60% of the time and both the bike and the Sea-doo I own so they are in my sig. Also there are others who put down stuff that they own. You might be used to the other forums but we run this one differently. It is more like a family feel here. If you are having trouble and in a bind we help each other out. Not only by typing in a solution but also by showing up and helping out and if you have a question about something off topic we have a place for that also. We even went as far as putting in an emergency contact list in-case you are stranded.

Also befor you go attacking others in this forum about what they have you might want to look at this page. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...t.php?f=50&a=9
