Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
You finished this truck before I joined, so I'm excited to tag along on it's refresh to see where it goes.
I was reading some of the last few posts and saw that you mentioned possibly making full coverage tubs. I was always curious why you didn't make full coverage ones to begin with and how well your current tubs protect from flinging stuff up into the engine bay while driving. I'll eventually need some custom tubs but would prefer the full coverage style because I drive my truck quite a bit in all weather conditions.

THese keep everything out of the engine compartment you can drive them in pouring rain and your engine will be dry just like they are and they let you expose the expensive tubular control arms and other suspension upgrades. |

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
While I get the benefits of LS swapping our trucks (my '65 is LS powered), I would not swap this one just yet. I would do some simple things like new wheels/tires and maybe an interior update. The set up you have for the engine looks outstanding and is already EFI. Just keep it simple!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
Hey Mike, I know the feeling on the getting bored once done thing. you built a gorgeous truck. ONe to be very proud of. It is perfect the way it is and I wouldnt change anything, But comingfrom someone that knows the boredom and the fact that people like us are never happy with a finished project because in our eyes it is never truly done, yet to everyone else it is. I think changine the truck to gain more attention is not the way to look at it. But more of a self satisfaction thing. This truck you will never get rid of nor sell. Same as Havoc. this is the reason I havenever finished Havoc because I can not figure out how I want to do it. But there comes a time where we have to realize when enough is enough and just call them done. As for the LS hing, I am all for it. I still understand your interior change as the truck never got done how you wanted it on the inside. So I morethan support you of the changes. Rob Daily dimes engine and stuff it in this thing. It deserves it. truly does. You have had some great engines and now is the time to use it.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
Dude! This truck is awesome! I know some guys that have seen it in person and they all say top notch and the photos here back it up! That said, I totally get the desire to tweak it some. I'll toss a vote in for the LS. I'd even put a nod toward Don Hardy in Texas in case you haven't checked them out before. I have one of their 418 cu in LS3 based engines and am about to fire it up in the coming days. I'm sure you know you can maintain your current engine look with an LS. Here's an engine from the Don Hardy website looking very similar, since pictures say 1000 words. If you want to see mine check out my build thread. I went all natural aluminum with black accents. DHR can finish the engine in any color you want and have all the intake/valve cover/valley cover options you can desire.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
The specs on that one are even more impressive. 454 LSx based, 650+ HP. His prices are very reasonable for what you get. I paid less for their long block fully forged rotating assembly than I would have for the same setup in a SBC. Like a couple k less. Now, I quickly offset that with bling and fancy electronics, but still, long block to long block they are competitive on pricing. I'd send one but ... I'm a little short on cash flow at the moment.

Right on! Me and some buddies are tentatively planning to meet up at LST if we can get the details ironed out between our schedules. I'll have to track you down if I make it down there!

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread (CLOUD 9)
I have just read every post you have made on this truck Mike. It took 7 hours and 43 minutes, excluding the two 5 minute breaks. I will admit I did read a few of the others too. Congratulations on the longest forum post EVER! Well, worth the time spent to gain some of the knowledge you shared. I didn't really have much to do at work today anyway.
