Funny thing about how that got my hard drive sparkin up a bit.
A true T-Top is something I haven't seen yet......but if it was done right.....
It would sure be more appealing than some of the "top mods" I've seen.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Yesterday, got some side molding from a great guy from a CL ad, turned him on to this site. Stopped by a junkyard that had a couple 64-66 trucks. I was gonna grab a gauge cluster and possibly the Chevrolet script valve covers. The trucks were in rough shape but had some decent parts. Found out they had crushed them LAST WEEK, I was sick.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Came out of the post office to find a puddle of antifreeze on my floor board. Guess I'll be replacing a heater core in the next few days.

Update....Heater core ordered from Advanced with 15% discount...of coarse its a special order part so 3-5 days to arrive. Napa, O'Reillys, Auto Zone are $15-25 higher and all still special order.

Part # for 60-63 w/recirculating heater is #394162 if it helps anyone else.

That's a shame! I'm lucky mine isn't dumping antifreeze all over my floor! lol! Glad you were able to find a new one though!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I got a pair of 3 pt seatbelts meant to be replacements for H1 Hummers for about $55 shipped on ebay and put them in my '66. They are all black, and pretty plain but they fit and work well. They are made by an OE supplier for seatbelts. The guys name is wolfer-parts on ebay.

I made 2" x 6" x .125" plates and plug welded them in the B pillars. The retractors got mounted on the rear wall of the cab with similar reinforcing plates. I feel a lot more safe sitting in front of a steel dash and solid steering shaft now

Its the OEM Harrison core too....so may have the tanks removed and installed on a new core down the road, but in the mean time its getting colder here in NC (already had temps in the 20's-30's) and I need a heater, so Advanced Auto will have to do. Bad part is I have a OEM core from a 64 sitting on the shelf, but model change was 60-63 and 64-66, so guess I need to find a new home for the OEM 64 Harrison core.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Had yesterday and today off as annual leave and today moved a lovely leather clad chair and large foot stool over to my stepson, Tom's father's home for him to put in his bedroom.

The truck obviously did not feel the load.

Tom asked to ride in the back on his new chair, but of course in this day and age it could get you locked up for years..... So when we got there he got to test drive the chair in the back of the truck.

After dropping him and the chair off, Nicola and I went off to Hempstead valley shopping centre for a walk about, and coffee and cake.

She thoroughly enjoys watching people trip over their feet and walk into stuff when the Redneck Express comes by.

Parked to one side of the carpark, as the truck takes up a bit more spae than most modern family cars here.

As always, the smiles per mile ratio far outweighed the miles per gallon delivery.

This truck really is one of the best Bucket list things I have ever done.

Thanks to my wife.

Last weekend I started making some paint curtains for my garage--shoulda done this a long time ago--
They're just 9'x12' canvas drop cloths with some brass grommets set into the edge.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I worked on the polishing of the center console lid that I picked up awhile back. Down to 1200 grit. I'm getting there. I also painted some of my serpentine stuff that I bead blasted and cleaned up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I was driving down the freeway with the transmission whining away. The anticipation of the Odometer ready to flip to 55000 and when it got to 54999.9 it died. It just clicks and won't turn and the needle is jumping alot.
I am going to go to my shop and get another speedo today.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Had Martin over for a few hours today, to bring back my bike trailer after unloading his new motor and gearbox into his garage.

We recently took out the one rear indicator unit as he wants to fit recessed indicators as per originals, which his truck does not have. After taking it out, we could not get the light to work again, so after resoldering the wires etc, it turned out the one wire on the switch was loose.

The next job Martin did for me (I made tea and coffee) was to wire in a Beeper into the indicator circuit.
My truck has no indicator stalk on the steering column, having a three position swith under the dash, I have on occasion driven well beyond a turning with the indicator merrily flashing away.

So now it will drive me nuts when I use it, necessitating the fast switching off of it.

The way its fitted, the beeper is now under the dash and muted to a mildly irritating level.

Here is a demo.....

One of the other things we figured out was that my truck must have been a Manual truck at some time in its life before the current incarnation.

We also tested the new compressor to see if it had an auto pressure switch.

Goes to 100psi and then stops filling.

I have still not quite figured out where the pressure goes when the pressure switch goes, as the motor does not stop......
