Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I was surfing around on photobucket and came across a picture on stickelspeeds photobucket account that looks exactly like what I plan on my truck looking like when done except for the different wheels. It looks to be a rendering of some type but doesn't have any info on the picture.

Anyway I wanted to post it up here for you guys so everyone can see what my truck will look like when done. I know I have made a lot of changes but everything I changed was to eventually get my truck to this point. Anyway enjoy the pic, hope you guys like it.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

If I wasn't so cheap I would get a rendering done cause my truck will be a little different from this picture as my wheels are different, I have a cowl hood and I will be running different mirrors with round heads. But at least this picture gives me inspiration to what my truck will look like when done.

Thanks Rus. I know there are alot of Red 67-68's around and even on this forum but Red is my favorite color. My 72 was red too. I do appreciate the response as it seems whenever I read about somebody painting their truck Red somebody else has to pop up and say "another Red truck" or "resale Red" etc. My wife had to remind me lastnight that, who cares if anybody else thinks there are to many Red trucks or Red Hotrods, in the end i'm building this truck for myself and we both know I will only be happy with Red. So Red it is

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

i love it. the red just pops on these. you are paying for it, so who cares what they think. they dont like it tell them to get one and paint it how they want. when i choose the green for mine nobody thought it wwould look good on it. but i didnt care what they said. i did what i wanted. if i`m the only one that likes it so be it. i paid for it.

i guess i missed it along the way, but looks like you are going with the fleet bed again? first fleet, the step, now back to fleet. lol starting to sound like my decision making.

do you plan on running side trim?

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Yes I have made a lot of changes but they have all led me to the photo above. The truck is staying a fleetside. I'm finally at a point where I'm completely comfortable with how I want the truck to look when done.

As far as the side trim goes I'm still on the fence about it. I like the side trim but I'm not 100% sure whether I want to run it or not. What I'll probably do is run it without the trim and after the truck is done I can always add it if I think the truck is missing something. If I do the trim and decide I don't like it after the truck is already painted then I would have to fill, bodywork and re-paint all the trim holes.

Either Red on Red or Red on Black. I'm not a fan of tan.

Read through the entire build and I find solace in the fact that I am not the only guy who suffers from T.A.D.D. (Truck Attention Deficit Disorder)! I love the direction and I am looking forward to seeing future updates.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Thanks Buck yeah I definitely have truck a.d.d. Actually I feel this build thread is a little embarrassing cause of all the changes I made. My problem is I have been working on it for so long that I do something and then a couple months go by and I change it because I find something else I like more. I need to learn to leave things alone.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Got a nice little surprise when I got home today. My Porterbuilt extreme rear dropmember was here. I'm so excited to get it installed this weekend. My front dropmember should be here next week so hopefully in a couple of weeks my frame will be done and back together rolling on my Intros. I can tell you I am very impressed with this Porterbuilt kit, quality is second to none. It looks awesome.

Pic of all the boxes waiting for me when I got home. I'm kind of glad the front kit didn't come in with the rear, the ups guy would have hated me
