I didn't really think about that, but I guess it would be under a lot of pressure when it broke loose! I'm laughing .. as long as you're ok.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

http://www.stockcarproducts.com/trkarm1.htm

I will probably get my drop blocks and new Ubolts today .. Question. How long do I need to get the new Ubolts? How long are stock? If I went with say 1.5" drop blocks.. which Ubolts should I get? I thought about getting 1" and 1.5" just so I'd have either.

I'm going to need to stay with stock arms for now. I'll talk to Nate about just getting some of the brackets for the shock / track bar.

Chad knows that I am ALWAYS thinking about the worse thing that could happen when working on these old trucks. When that thing popped, all I could see was the rear housing flying through the roof.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I'll be working on it tomorrow, I'll take a bunch and post them.

My tailgate is at my friend's shop being painted. (just where the old mystery silver stuff was) and some minor rust repair. Dad and I can do minor welding but we had to cut a piece about 10-12" long to repair the pinholes on the pass side of the gate. We thought it would turn out better if he sprayed the base / clear.

Trailing arms and some of the PB stuff will go to powder the first part of next week. Maybe next weekend we can bolt everything up and at least get the back in it's lowered position. Rear brakes and axles maybe tomorrow..

current state: As of about this time yesterday. Dad is working on it now, so it has changed I'm sure.

Here's a pic of the bed wood too. I'm just planning to put a gloss SPAR varnish on it. This is pre-milled of course, it has been cut down and to size now. It's ready for SPAR. (I may do that tomorrow actually .. )

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Purists might want to look away ..

The holes were carefully marked and drilled on both sides. I cut one side yesterday and got the notch fitted in nicely. Every hole lined up great. I can honestly say this is the first time I have ever cut into the frame of any of my projects .. BUT, I'd do it again in a minute. The stepper will be notched for sure.

Dad and I thought we'd cut one side at a time. Get one bolted in and tight then cut the other side. .. but we ran out of time. Dad is going to finish up the other side one day next week.

Anyway, .. you've probably seen 100 of these, but here's how it turned out.

(Just a note, there are more jack stands underneath the cab of the truck. All the weight is not on the back stands, they're really just there for extra insurance.)
