Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
The truck is running now and man she is angry. Crack the throttle and it will bury the tach. Just super crisp but not obnoxious. I can't wait to drive it.
We're going to try again on the windshield gasket and chrome tomorrow. I have a new a precision gasket and a new set of their windshield stainless trim to go in it. We're having a heck of a time with the brakes. I'm changing it over to a different style MC/PV combo. Windshield, brakes, completed exhaust, and put the cowl / antenna on well be almost done. What should I do on the door mirrors?

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
Chad, Ha!,
Been thinking about this, lately. What was brake problem? They make these small street rod mirrors that somehow clamp on top of the door frame. You could try them, if you don't like them, they can be taken off, no harm to pickup. |

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
We got the side view mirrors on, I went with the painted arm instead of stainless, I wanted it to kinda blend back into the door and not stick out too much.
We also got the windshield in, attempt #4 included a little persuasion.. lol. I bought her dinner afterward.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
We finally got the brakes bled on Chad's truck. It turns out the Wilwood master cylinder that we purchased had a casting flaw that prevented fluid from flowing in the lines. After changing out the master cylinder and bending new lines we now have brakes.
Next stop... the muffler shop to finish up the Magnaflows and get this beast calmed down just a little. POP

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
Thank you for all the compliments fellas. She's home !
We're going to go through some minor details and adjustments over the next couple weeks but we're really close. The hood is going to need repainted, we know it's out of adjustment a little but it has to come back off soon. We just haven't worried much about it. The front is a little too low. I'm going to change front springs and lift it back up about an inch or so. It will make it more of a driver. It looks good that low but I don't want to change inner fenders and stuff.

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
What a great feeling it is to see this truck out in the sunshine again. I am so proud to be a small part of Chad's vision for this truck. Every decision he made regarding colors, engine, interior and wheel choice created one special little C10. It's kinda' old school with the carbureted big block and stock body lines but totally 2018 with Porterbuilt suspension, tilt wheel, AC and 4 wheel disc brakes. What a ride it has been.
