Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Looks like I have got my transfer case/transmission leaks down to just some slight seepage. Good enough for now, until I pull it all again to swap in the 383 and a new flywheel and clutch. Yahh!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Every picture of 1 ton 14 bolt corp rear axle swaps show the rear driveshaft with the slip yoke down by the rear axle. When John custom built my new rear shaft, he put the slip yoke up by the transfer case. He say's it puts the yoke up out of the mud and etc better. Any thought's guy's?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Not much new here, working too much! I did score a new taillight harness off evilbay yesterday. Hope it helps me figure out my taillight setup. I want to get it all working before I even think about installing my new painless wiring kit!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got the new rear taillight harness yesterday. Looks real good, brand on unopened package is American Autowire. Saving up funds for the fab up of the rear bumper, spare tire carrier, rollcage, and rock sliders!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
If you run a c/v joint, to fix the driveline angle on a lifted blazer, you have to put the slip yoke end at the rear. Otherwise, keep it on the transfer case end.

No progress on the K5, but am working on moving more of the parts stash out of the basement to the K5 barn! Wife wants me to uncover her pool table again for winter time play!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
98% of K5 parts are moved out to the pole barn. Not organized out there yet, but in there. Weather is changing fast here, got to get moving. Oh, I did find the pool table-sort of! Will try to get some pic's soon!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Been searching for my next set of shoes for the K5. Think I may have found what I want finally. NITTO TRAIL GRAPPLER M/T's. In 40x13.50R17LT. Got the tread pattern I want, but still have some road manners. Only thing holding me back right now is the $$. About $2500.00 for a set of 5, and that doesn't even add in the beadlock wheels I want! Any feedback here on the NITTO TG M/T's?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
I heard great things about Toyo Open Country MT... So much so I bought some 35x12.5x18s for my K5... But I haven't got them on the road yet... My friend had a set on his crew cab diesel Dodge and got good results and he was tearing through the desert with them...

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's mcmlxix! I checked out TOYO's site, and they do make a tire in that same size, but am still leaning toward the NITTO trail grapplers. Planning on going with B.A.D 17X10 wheels. Both tire companies have this rubber in load range C, which is fine for my app. Need to order 5 new tire and 5 new wheels to fix this 1 ton upgrade setup! These 31" P265/75/R16" tires just are not right on my K5! 5 tires=about$2500.00--5 new wheels=about $2000.00--ouch! Anybody got pic's of some new 39" or bigger rubber on thier K5? Hello--overtime at work!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Nothing new here, just working more overtime to add to funds. Did go up and check out a jeep at CHAOS offroad. John just put a dana60 in the front with crossover steering and some custom spring mounts, looks pretty good! Guy was already running a 14blt rear, so now it's set up! Still wanting those Nitto trail grapplers in 40x13.50R17lt! Just keep saving, I guess!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Well Christmas is coming soon, and I've started my santa list. JEG's is offering free shipping & handling on everything right now! Need to set up a new ignition system for my 383 stroker thats waiting to go in the K5. Had my partner from work help me pick out what I will need for this upgrade. Hope santa's got a little extra for me this year!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Just looking through my old records on getting my winch bumper actually installed on my K5. Cost of original Kennesaw mountain wincher bumper shipped to me was $859.00 Then I had to have my friend John at Chaos off road rework it to fit my K5 which cost around $200.00 The wincher bumper was not even built right for a 1st gen K5, we had to weld on diamond plate on the top to make it conform to the angle of the front clip. Also, the frame brackets that were welded on to it would not fit right. Really had to redo the frame to bumper brackets completely. Bumper does not tuck under the grille and into the front fenders like I wanted, but I am very happy with the way it turned out in the end! Luckily, I have a fabricator friend that did almost all the labor for free! Warn winch mounted up, just needs to be wired up. Next step, he is going to fab up me a rear bumper to match-I am sure it won't cost as much as the front one. It will include a spare tire carrier, tow hitch, and etc. Can't wait for spring to get here!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got my new transfer case skid plate yesterday from board member 72Ironmike. Awesome, got it cleaned up and painted today, did I say Awesome? So happy to get this skid plate as it is better than the stock setup I was gonna run.
