This build is just unreal -- you are really moving on this thing. In one day, there were two pages of updates! So are you planning medium blue/white two tone?

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

I went ahead and welded in one cab corner. These cab corners from Counterpart are so much better than the other ones I got from LMC. Thicker metal and the correct shape. Earlier in the thread I discussed this and how the first ones I welded in were so disappointing. I had to trim a bit of it to make room for my fuel filler hose that connects the new gas tank to my old filler tube I rebuilt from the 72 Suburban. It will reside where the factory pickup truck filler goes.

I can't tell you how much better these fit and look. I got them in California at a place called, and I'm serious, The Truck Shop. I also got some Camaro 327 emblems for the fenders for my new 5.3 engine.

its real re-assuring to hear that about the truck shop... another member, 454stepside, recommended them, so i am really liking the sound of them! I like their prices too!

I was VERY impressed when I went there, it was huge and they had about 10 people behind the counter filling orders and answering questions. It seemed like they all were very well informed.

Very cool that you're keeping the stock filler neck location! Have you shown detail of the filler on the inside of the cab that I missed?

I think so, but don't remember what page. Basically I took the old Suburban filler tube from the rear quarter panel and heated it so I could reshape it like I needed. Then I welded a reducer/enlarger on the end to fit the 2002 rubber filler hose. I also welded a mounting tab to screw it to the truck in the middle.

Have you addressed the filler cap issue? I know the new engine will expect to see a sealed fuel tank and I think the older gas cap is vented so you will throw a code just like if you left the gas cap off a new truck.

I guess you could just have that error code disabled in the tune and keep the vintage gas cap.

I hadn't thought about it, but I'm sure I could get an old looking sealed cap or disable in my tune.

Putting the old metal cover from a stock cap onto the guts of a newer screw-on cap would be kind of cool and wouldn't require any funny business with the tune.

You would have to add the newer end to the filler tube so you have the threaded portion to match the newer cap.
