Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Been outside working ..walk back in the house , only to see on the TV, Gomer pumping gas thru the gun port of the 1960 IH treasury gold truck..ahh the good old days of tv...
Well anyway while we are in the process of social distancing, and hoarding toilet paper, I decided to take advantage of a 70+degree day and spray some raptor liner on the front fenders and inner fenders

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Had just enough to spray the bottom of the running boards as well...2 cans was barely enough for all this...I've 2 cans left to do the rear fenders and the bedside behind the fenders...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

mongo,
Tell me more about your application of raptor liner. You mention having cans left. You buying it in aerosol? I like what I have seen with it from a number of people applying it and would like to use it much like you have done. Possibly even on my steps and inside the bed depending upon how well the bed sides clean up. Figure that would look good on the inside of the bed and cover some ugly.

Raptor liner comes in a kit form... you get a shutz gun, hardner, and raptor...I opted for the 4 bottle kit..but you can get other size kits if needed..
To use you top off the bottle with the hardner, shake well, screw the gun on and spray...clean up with acetone....surface prep is to sand with 80-180g paper...I used 80..
It leaves kinda of a hard finish,,I think itll work fine in my wheel wells...
I have linerextreme that I'm gonna use in my bed..
Both of these can be had in colors as well...the linerextreme is color matched to my paint..

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Well another really nice day in solitary...
Well after I raptored the front fenders I was putting everthing away and of course with my luck I broke the lid on the raptor hardner...i was afraid I'd lose the hardner, so that kinda pushed things up..so I hurriedly got the bedsides and rear fenders ready to spray...and of course it rained this morning...it cleared up after dinner so I pulled everything outside and sprayed that..
I like the way this stuff lays down, but its messy to clean up the gun......and my hands..
I still need one more can of the stuff..I want to spray to firewall and radiator support where they are exposed, inside the front fenderwells...

Those look great Greg! 70's? We're getting hammered with a big winter storm. Already have 4+ inches of snow headed to 9-12".

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Things getting rough around here due to the tp shortage...down to my last half roll..then I'll have to switch to the 180g...saving the 80g for really hard times...
Hope everybody is staying well...

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Didnt get a whole lot done today..slept thru most of it...working nights sucks..
Got the fuel fittings and level gauge on the tank..so it's ready to go back on..
Got the steering shaft and u-joints squared away...glad to get that done as well..
Only a little over an inch of offset, so its not to bad...
Sanded down the other areas where I'm gonna raptorline..got that taped off and ready to spray as soon as the other bottle of raptor I ordered comes in....

Re: Columbus..the 1957 IH 4x4..

Got the fuel pump and filters mounted..
Had to put it all behind the cab
Put the pre-filter and pump on the pass side frame rail
Put the filter/reg on the drivers side frame rail..
I was really wanting all this between the tank and the engine but there just wasn't room anywhere in that area..had to leave room for exhaust...
Ran out of the -6an hose...got it on order , it just hasn't come in..

Looking good! Do you have all the paint materials? I remember you had to go quite a ways to find a supplier?

Patience my son..!!...thanks to John (the astronaut), I'm having to reprime some fenders...he showed some plexiglass sanding boards he uses, so I gave them a try...all I can say is wow!!...what I thought was good enough with the durablock, needs more work...I had guide coat and sanding dust all over my hands so I didnt take any pics..but with the plexiglass and guide coat ,it showed I need to do some more work...most of the highs sanded out, but I got into metal in a few places...so I'm gonna shoot another coat of epoxy and high build and sand some more...
