Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

I'm tryin. I am gonna replumb the one old crusty line left on the truck....its a fuel line naturally....new tank, new pump, new rubber....at the same time I'm going from dinky inline cheesy filter to what was recommended by Mr. Langdon, Big Giant micron filter from a fuel injection rig. Just gotta get busy in the shop and make a nice mounting bracket and decide where inside the PS frame rail I'll hang it and then detetermine if I want the lines to continue up over the engine or bring em up nice and neat across the firewall and over to the carbie. I think it'll be a good opportunity to make up some more nifty polished aluminium brackets like the one I put on there when i insulated all the existing lines. I really don't like over the valve cover for looks...but the factory around and near the waterneck and then over the manifolds is just 20" of heat sink for the fuel! I'll finger sumthin out...just gotta drink summore beer!

Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

Interestingly enough....a clean out, slightly smaller secondary jet and light tweaks to relieve it of some time on choke since its full hot summer and this tank of fuel registered an even 20 mpg. Pleasing.

Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

Nice...20 mpg is always nice...Looks like I'm gonna consider a new tranny. lol I wanna do a richmond 6 speed, but the S-10 5 speed seems just as nice for cheaper to.

Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

I think with an I6, 5 gears is bout enough. Its sure enough rowin with a stiff clutch pedal in traffic. More than that and I'd stick in a 200R4 on a 6 or 700R4 on an 8 and be done with rowing forever!

Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

I like the 6 speed cause of the close gear splits when shifting...

3.28 1st

2.14 2nd

1.57 3rd

1.24 4th

1.00 5th

.76 6th

Bout 800-1000 rpm split between all gears except OD. Which is nice considering the I6 is a great cruising engine.

Re: The Official John Lee Jr Thread

How did you finally end up routing the fuel line from the pump to the carb?

Sure like your new door modifications. That is a totally acceptable customization here in OK. Carry on!

Yeah thats pretty frustrating. Prolly a glitch but even when selecting inch rod ends it only provides metric selections.

Oh well, plenty of time to figure it out.
Tell me how long it needs to be and what size for the bolt for the rod end and I will do it for you! Can't get easier than that...
