Picked this up over the winter and have been getting it into shape since then. '84 GMC K1500 that came from Idaho. The grill was bad when I bought it so I put a Chevy grill and tailgate band on it until I can find a nice GMC grill. I also changed out the GMC cab trim for some camper specials I had just to be different I guess. Put rallies on it, got rid of step bumper, fixed a lot of mechanical issues also. I need to tackle the interior next.

Do I win the award for the worst truck here?

This is my 77(?) Stepside Cheyenne 2WD. One of the neighbors gave it to me when I was about 12 years old (I'm 25 now). I started fixing it up back then, but my dad talked me into doing a 4x4 swap which I didn't really want. I unbolted the 2WD crossmember and staged the front axle and that was as far as I got. Over 300 projects and a house later, I finally have time and the space to bring it home and fix it back up the way I want it. It will be going back to 2WD (luckily I saved everything I took off!), not sure on the engine or tranny yet, but I did build a custom tilt steering column that fits a 700R4.

Poor I'm not sure if I am a 4wd or 2wd truck, think your on the right track to build it as you want, back to a 2wd, anything can be fixed and built right, lots of parts available, cool that it's a stepside. Get at it and keep us posted.

This was up in Northern California at about 8000ft, the picture was taken back in January the temperature was about 0 degrees f as well!

Well where we live in Northern Canada has been exceptionally warm weather, that is until today, dropped right off and now 3-4" of snow, just like winter again. Forcast is snow for another 24hrs or so, oh well will appreciate spring more when it comes. Cool pic of the truck, especially since the truck is so nice, enjoy it.

My 1986 GMC. Just put 255/70/15's on it with '88-up center caps on the ralleyes.
(Don't know why the pictures are rotated and don't know how to fix it.)
