Re: 72 K30 Build
looking good! My sons both have the retro sound stereos in their trucks , they really sound good, I am going to get one for my 72K20 and one for my 73 suburban.....I just picked up a 69 GMC one ton open road motorhome, but i think I am going to keep it a motorhome, the interiorof the camper isnt all that bad, a little water damage, but worth fixing it....I think I will start a thread and post pics...

Re: 72 K30 Build
Thank you, El Dorado Jim. Went for a (OMG were going to die!) ride last Summer in a friend’s beautiful red 64 Malibu. He has a non-amplified retrosound radio, windows down, happy 383 and the radio sounded great with just 4 Kenwood speakers.
Open Road motorhomes are very cool would love to see a thread on it. Just hated cutting up our Rancho El Rae here’s a pic of the old girl outside my office 4 years ago, covered in snow. I was going to wait till the 3-year anniversary of this short video which is next month but here’s us ripping the leaky roof off ours. Ha, think I mentioned earlier our neighbors love us! https://youtu.be/qx1Q172qmuA

Re: 72 K30 Build
Hey Brett I bought a HF benchtop grinder/buffer, with coupon it was like 40$. It worked great for the trim. Made the process of buffing nice since it was mounted to a pedestal.
keep it up its looking great and moving fast!!!

Re: 72 K30 Build
I cant watch youtube at home, lousy internet,I may be able to send it to my phone and watch it someplace else......I havent decided to either put a newer front end with disc brakes and newer rear end.......or my son wants me to convert it to four wheel drive...I can get a dana 60 dually front end from a mid 80's chevy for $1200.00 with 4:10 gears,(a friend of my son's has it) and then find a 14 bolt dually rear end with 4:10 gears....I already have a t-400/205 trans case setup....the truck has a t-400 now and the 350 engine was replaced with a 454, came with all the receipts, has only 10,000 miles on the 454....I stole the truck for $800.00 with $375.00 in back dmv fees,I trailered it home ,would start but wouldnt stay running, I changed carburetors, removed quadrajet,(installed holley my son had that i knew was good) runs great.....I need to start a thread, just hate trying to download pics on this site, I couldnt post pics last time i tried....

That gasket was perfect, except for the innermost bottom trim groove the shallow one was not cut quite all the way (+or- 3”) to the corner on both sides. Just a few minutes with a razor blade as our glass guy did, or you could trim the trim to fix this. If you look at the picture above (frogs helping) you’ll notice the lower trim is not sitting flush near the corner, that’s also why the corner pieces are not installed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=880 Got it back in our garage last Friday during the heat of the day which was about 15 degrees! First clear day all week and I can report no barrel rolls on the freeway.

Re: 72 K30 Build
The cab looks great and I'm glad to hear you didn't lose it on the way home. That would be a bad deal! You can keep all that white stuff you have too.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Thank’s, Ryan! We were joking around at the paint shop about that Misfit episode, think it was staged? Strapping stuff down on a dove tail can be iffy, especially with only one strap over the pinch weld area, oops! Greatest snow on earth they say! I don’t ski so…
Bolted in the high hump and bang, on its nose. Fished out the cab light harness and washed some slush and shop dirt off the bottom. Noticed with the glass and stuff it’s a little top heavy so I added some safety bungee’s!

Re: 72 K30 Build
Cab is looking good.
The show was staged... it had to be! that incident probably kept the show on the air. What seat are you putting in it?

Re: 72 K30 Build
Man, if it was staged, they could have used my rusty old cab! I would have traded them straight up before they loaded it out of the body shop. You almost have a cab over going on now.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Those seats are going to look really nice in there. I think that you may have hit on something, maybe you should do all the under-dash wiring while you have the cab on its nose. Got to beat laying on your back with half your body bend over backward out the door opening

Re: 72 K30 Build
There was no way that Misfits episode couldn't have not been staged unless they are so retarded they don't know how to use tie down straps, which to me is a shame because these cabs are not exactly being reproduced and that one was savable.
Your cab looks damn sweet.

Undercoating on the cab and inner fenders is done, didn’t get what I was hoping for from a rattle can and in hind sight wish we’d done this using a Shultz gun (next time), but hey live and learn. The great spray off started with a real old can of Keystone 970 that’s no longer available, back when this stuff was new it would give a nice chunky texture and the fumes would knock you into next week (probably why it’s no longer). That one’s been on my shelf for over 10 years and what came out was like clumpy buuuggggers, ended up that was the only chunky texture we got. Everything else pretty much laid down like thick paint, first 2 cans of Evercoat that put a thin coat on everything. Ran out to the local AutoZone and grabbed more, 2 cans of the 3M stuff and 2 cans of the Rust-oleum, all that they had. Mainly just to build up the thickness a little bit more and still hoping to find one that would give some texture (not). Before starting this my friend Tony from Hot Rod Body & Paint (he recommended the Trim Black stuff for the top of the dash) tried to warn me that if I was after texture in a rattle can this Dupicolor truck bed liner would do a better job.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Glued in some replacement insulation just prior to righting the cab. Next up the fresh air cowl flapper got installed, could’ve probably kept installing stuff prior to putting the cab on the frame but that would be just too easy!

Re: 72 K30 Build
I have been thinking about how I am going to insulate the cab. How did you come up with this? keeping it stock? I have seen many people use a plethora of insulation ideas. not sure what is best.
