Me too! I have to take it apart and follow the wire strand by strand to figure each system out. As you can see, it has taken me two or three weeks just working on the electrical. Last thing i want to do is burn the ol girl to the ground, so i thought it was important to check out the electrical side....this is not my forte, but i do hang out in the electrical section, and read as much as i can

Trust me, i need to wrap my head in duct tape, just to keep it from hurting. This has been very painful

Thanks for stopping by, hope you and yours have a very happy holiday season

The thing that im happiest with is getting the radio in, that hole was driving me nuts....lol

Thats cool 119,119 views

Got the tach in and wired, finally had this part a long time. Used a stepper drill to open it up to 3/4", then used the stepper on the inside to get rid of the burr. Yeah, i know its in the wrong location, but i didnt want to take the fuse box out again

Last two items to address is the vacuum and the oil lines

Re: PO has me PO'd

Nice job! About 5-6 years ago, I had a 68 custom camper that I bought for the ac parts. The guy I bought it from only wanted the tilt column so he removed it and replaced it with a standard column. The truck had cruise on it. I removed and sold it on ebay - think I got $125 for it. That was one of those dumb ideas.

Doug, ya got me thinkin', maybe its an original 61,000 truck

Thanks Dave, thanks goes out to you and John, for giving up your secret stash of parts. Located a patch panel for the forward edge (jlaird), so i can fix either the GMC or Chevy hood....been lookin for several years and finally have all my body pieces

Hood fits like a glove, no shims, not bad for a repop tri (top banana) 67-8 core support. Now, ijust have to save up for the billet hood hinges

I guess im doing as well as can be expected ( with a disability wifey and a special needs son), chaos can break out at any moment. But, im SURE, there are other people with bigger problems, so i just keep trogging along with the hand that was dealt to me

We all have our crosses to bare. Right? Reality Forums, dont know how you handle the heartache, i couldnt. You and looksdcvn are at the top of my prayer list

Shame Kurt dropped of the face of the earth, another good guy! Amazing how these builds take a turn in life

Thanks, coming from you, that is a large compliment.....

Now to see if i can reassemble my tilt, with no dissassembly pics

Seems like i should go back under the hood and finish up, but it was nice to work in the wide open spaces. Not looking forward to the challenge of the tilt

Thanks for stopping by, this forum has so many incredibly talented guys, its nice to see you take the time to look

Re: PO has me PO'd

Thought id start to document my reassembly of the tilt column that i didnt take any disassembly pics of....so this should be from memory

Mounted the column under the dash with the clamp, can only go in one way. There are some nubs and detents that have to align, these are located in the dash horseshoe bracket and the other end of the column, outside the cowl under the m/c. There is a clamp there, to affix the column to the bracket attached to the brake pedal support

This where the detent and nub are located, under this clamp. Gives you the oreintation of the column

Dont forget to put the rubber gasket and plate on the column before it goes thru the cowl

Re: PO has me PO'd

Not sure it matters. All it does is provide the indent for where the pin goes for each position of the tilt. Thats why it's staggered like that. Should move and stop in each position regardless of which way you install them. I was trying to see if I had pics from when I assembled mine, but couldn't find them. But I really don't think it matters.
