Wow, a guy wanders around elsewhere for a week and Busty gets a heart transplant. I'd say that I'm sorry that the other motor gave you trouble, but I kind of suspect that you're secretly delighted.

allright the LS enjin is in, now what? time to make a List of Things:

1. Fandangle a transmission crossmember out of the 5 I own
2. Marry the B&M shifter to the 4L60e transmission
3. Replace the TH400 yoke in the driveshaft with a TH300 one and hope the driveshaft fits
4. Install [stock] exhaust manifolds if they fit
5. Modify exhaust downpipes to mate with the the LS manifolds
6. Plum the Transmission / Radiator
7. Plumb the Power Steering
8. Plumb the Water Pump / Radiator
9. something something
10. Install and hide the thinned out, modified, and re routed engine wiring harness

says the evil man who stood proud in my driveway couple years ago and planted the seed of LS swapping using the reverse Jedi mind trick - all I wanted was to live a simple carburated SBC life and chase endless oil leaks and tangle yet another timing light cord in my radiator fan whilst timing the arcane distributor, ha ha

That is spot on correct! I also dragged out my bench seat from my '74 out of the shed earlier this weeek to have it go to the upholsterer finally so yeah carrying that in the rain by myself was fun too!

35 miles north of you and also got hit with the rain, was changing batteries on my daily driver just ignored it and kept going. Dang weather jumping all over the place 103 then 80 with rain WTH this is Cali not Texas (no offense to Texas)

I was hoping for you to reply to prove that I am not making this up, it was a pleasant rain this time it was warm and all, but something told me that the General would not approve of me bathing my LS wiring harness in it

ha ha, after running the '74 circuit board through the dishwasher, using the kitchen island as a work bench, and a couple of valve jobs in the bathroom she don't flinch any more

the night I installed that LS all by myself I was so exhausted and it was late at night that I found myself doing stuff like this, ha ha, silly stuff ever happen to you, do share, you know looking for your glasses whilst they are up on your head type a thing

so picked up one of these protractor gauges and checking what I guess may be called engine pinion angle, for years I relied on my eyecrometer for engine placement and my trusty butt-o-meter for driveline wobble, but trying to graduate to the next level, so any insight is appreciated, the first page i Googled said 3° on the enjin so shooting for that

I decided to treat myself to a brand new universal transmission crossmember - any of you used / installed this kind?

Note: this kit aka part number 6544 forces you to buy the rubber mounting pad which I really didn't want/need to keep the cost lower, however it's all that AMAZON has, the basic kit is the 6524 same thing less the pad for only $63, however AMAZON does not carry that kit, so I tried to buy from SUMMIT and after filling my shopping cart with $99 bucks to get their FREE shipping, those fools said, this item requires an additional $20 shipping charge, I really hate when they do that!!! I want free stuff, and I want businesses to give me free stuff, ha ha, just kidding point is, I will gladly pay shipping but be up front about it, don't wait till the last moment to tell me that, it wastes my precious time, I could have stripped like seven bolts by then wrenching, ha ha

the sooner we identify interferences the sooner we can order parts if needed to remedy them

the stock truck LS water pump posses two challenges in the form of the upper and lower inlets and outlets

UPPER HOSE

our options are to do nothing with the pumps 45° upper hose outlet design and run one of them ribbed upper hoses to redirect it back to the radiator or we could buy a 2007 and newer water pump where the outlet points straight up (decisions, decisions) another option is to replace the pump with a Camaro pump but that solution quickly dominos into spacers and alternator bracket grindage etc, I also heard of guys attempting to rotate that outlet via a tire iron or some other mickey mouse way, I wonder if that is prone to leaks though, your thoughts, suggesions? also the upper hose outlet is 1 1/4 yet on the '54 radiator it is 1 1/2 so we got a coupler adapter

LOWER HOSE

as far as the lower water pump inlet currently at the 9:00 o'clock position, we could hack the inner fender some more, until there is nothing left, ha ha, or we could buy a Mr. Gasket 2670 swivel inlet and simply reclock it, we shall shoot for the ladder

HEATER CORE

which brings us to the last issue on the water pump, and that is the heater hose bypass, see those two nipples pointed straight at the passenger inner fender, well we are not going to run a heater core, so they need to be linked together, fortunately they make a horse shoe shaped rubber hose to do just that
