Re: What did you do to your truck today??

Just curious how many miles on the balancer. I know they have varied lifespans.

I did cap and rotor on my Suburban a month or so ago. It wouldn't fire over when it was wet out, until it dried. That's when I realized how many miles and how long it's been since I put that motor in. I noticed a split plug wire and yes the plugs need replacement. But I developed a bad head gasket and will do the wires and plugs on reassembly. I also have new P/S hoses to install once heads go back on. It's been a good vehicle. Just time to finally give it some love.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

Her odometer shows 222xxx miles. It was running rough and no codes so I gave it a tune up. It ran great but when I went to change the oil after that I noticed the dripping water. I noticed the balancer while I was checking for leaks with it running after I changed the freeze plug.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

Mom's brakes never felt right to anyone that drove it, despite me having changed most every part of the braking system. Similar to my 93 but hers was much worse. So I deleted the ABS. They work much better now. I'll have to do mine next. Hers has the first design ABS, different than mine but should be relatively the same to delete it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

I disabled mine by getting anti-seize on a sensor when changing a rotor I've had to stop but quick a few times since. It stops great, and I control the locking

My Suburban has about the same miles on it.

The older ones are just RWAL, the only sensor is the VSS.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

Replaced the battery cables and the transfer case front output seal. Found some questionable wiring and cleaned it up while I was there. The starter motor solenoid wire fell out of the ring terminal. I'm glad I found that now instead of getting stranded somewhere.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

It has been raining here a lot lately, and I have been noticing that water has been dripping from the heater box onto the passenger floor mat. I removed the blower motor to investigate (not easy, by the way, and requires the dash to be flexed out of the way). Anyway. I did this while it was raining, and could see with a mirror that water was dripping steadily through the fresh air inlet from the seam of the block-off panel that is glued to the top of the firewall under the cowl. I then removed the cowl and found that the seam sealer was deteriorated to the point where the plate was loose. I removed the plate, cleaned off the old seam sealer with a wire wheel, resealed it, and painted it.

I would never ever consider those wheels.............................................................................................. .............................................. In the '90s . But now all I can say is perfectomente! It's all about the era correct. Plus, once you stop seeing something, it's nice to see it back again. Well, except my ex-wife

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

Recently got my son a 90 Cheyenne regular cab shorty.
Been doing the usual ignition brakes oil grease tuneup.

Tried to get the axle out for passenger side axle seal and as usual it seems the spider gear pin was broken.
Easy Sunday got long.

And 3 new brake hoses
New shoes pads re packed wheel bearings idler and pitman arms.
Maybe now I'll feel good about my son driving this one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

I took the good spare from my van and put it on the truck, so I would still have the not so great spare on the front. It was pretty bald, but I didn't notice until today that the belts were starting to poke through the center because leaves were sticking to the sharp points. It will be the van spare until I get another tire. Also, the 99 is down until I figure out what's wrong with it.

Oil and filter
pcv valve
grommet and vacuum tube.
Seems to have fixed our low idle issue.
Hope so.

Re: What did you do to your truck today??

On the 93, the idler pulley locked up. The belt unscrewed it from the bracket and threw it off the engine and got chopped up in the process. After searching the ground where it happened I found the pulley laying on the frame rail under the hood. Purchased a new belt and pulley and then realized I had to go to the junkyard to get another bolt and spacer because they were damaged too.
