Re: My 68 swb build.
Britt got her first ride in the truck...then it ran out of gas...
Got a new carb after work and got it installed...she fired right up and idled...then she climbed in rpms and kept going and i said crap, i forgot the booster line is open!! kinda had me puzzled there for a min..lol looking at the old carb and the new one, the linkage is all wrong...guess i got a bad carb. at least this one will look better too before i put the other carb on i checked the fuel pressure...looks good? its below 7 lbs...

Re: My 68 swb build.
I think the first one is the cleanest inexpensive bracket but it doesn't have a provision for a trans. cable. I don't think the one with the trans. cable bracket has the return spring tab. The one on the yellow background just bolts to a manifold bolt or thermostat housing bolt etc. If you want to get fancy you can get something like the PRP bracket in the last pic.

Re: My 68 swb build.
6-1/2 psi is pushing your luck with an 1850 Holley. It may work fine or it may push fuel past the needle & seat. I have had some do that at only 6 psi and others be fine over 7. Just luck of the draw I guess.
I would lower it a touch just to be safe. Nothing worse than having it flooded at a stop light. As long as it can keep up with the fuel demand of the engine the lower pressure will be OK. A vacuum referenced regulator that boosts pressure with engine demand is the best way to deal with it rather than hope the lower pressure can keep up. Trick flow makes a nice one that is return style to keep your fuel pump working efficiently and it comes with adjustment springs to use it with a carburetor or with EFI. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-27001/

Re: My 68 swb build.
and got a little done on the bed, britt and i took the bed off so i could attempt the exhaust...then a buddy and i started on the latch assembly again...had to repair the welder, the 2 piece liner had got pinched and i had to order a liner for the gun just to put the welder back into operation...along with a new spool of flux core wire....heres what we started and where we left it for the nite....we also started on the passenger side, but still need to straighten the stake pocket so it sits nicely on the rear cross sill.

Re: My 68 swb build.
I'm getting really really tired of Brittany complaining and *****ing about how I can spend 7-800 bucks on the truck and not bat an eye and how I don't spend time or money on her all the time. I'm debating throwing this truck and all my tools up for sale. 15000 with alk my tools, truck, title, and everything else in the storage unit.....I'm tired of it to the point where I wanna push it outside forget about it..aaahhhhhhh.!!!! You always wanna work on the truck and ur never home etc...duh!!! I pay half of all her bills plus all of mine and a storage fee with the cost of the build... When u say when all u got left to do is put the bed on, u can put it in the garage...no crap I'm gonna get it done asap..I dont know what to do guys...I love her but theres only so much one can take when its day in and day out

Re: My 68 swb build.
Hey 77chris03, I feel for you man, My wife gets on me the same way. I just ask her if she wants to be married to a guy that starts things and never finishes them or one that has dreams and ambitions and sees them through. I also tell her that when I'm finished we will BOTH get the enjoyment and benefit from having a unique truck. The truth is I have been watching this build and I can tell that this is where your talent that God has given has taken you. Your attention to detail and persistence in the face of overwhelming obstacles (like rust) is something you should be really proud of. I hope you keep it and finish it! By the way, I really like your color choice and I'm even thinking of painting mine that color. Keep up the good work!...

Re: My 68 swb build.
i believe i figured out why it wont shift.....not enough tranny fluid....i fired it up, pulled it out and let it warm up....nada on the dipstick...oops...added a quart and she hit 2nd gear. now to adjust the tv cable so it doesnt burn up the tranny....hopefully my headers will be here tomorrow.... i did finally bite the bullet and buy new front signals... heres a pic....

Try to get Brittany out in the shop with you so she doesn't feel left out or neglected, even if she is just hanging out watching & learning. I had the same issues with my wife until I involved her in my projects. She doesn't do much work but we can still talk while I am working and she doesn't feel like I am cheating on her with the other woman any longer. She's not really interested in the build process but she enjoys the finished product so she puts up with it. Mostly she just hangs out and plays around on her iphone but at least we are together. Occasionally I can get her to help out when I need a hand.

Looks good man! And yeah, I think we all go through the woman problems stuff. They get over it after a while. Honestly I think they just need something to complain about and get jealous afraid you love the truck more than them! Shhh we won't tell! But keep up the good work man and you'll be done before you know it!

Surely not! Yeah that too, I got mine out and involved, and at the car shows, now she loves it. Still fusses about the money sometimes, but she also knows I need to buy stuff to improve it.
