Re: Suburban and panel finds

I recently dragged this 1967 beast home. I know very little about Suburbans & Panels. From what I have read the 4x4 Panels are rare. This one would require a full restoration. I know most of the rusty bits have replacement panels available. The seat set up looked to be two utility buckets. I believe this truck to be an ex forestry or government vehicle. The 4th pic looks like there was a label for maybe the 4x4 instructions. Were those not on the glove box? It doesn't look like there has been a label on the GB.
Anyway.... not sure what I will do with this beast. Thought I'd post it here to see what y'all think.

That looks like a hell of an undertaking but a cool rare truck for sure! Hopefully you will start a build thread so we can follow along!

I’m 60ish now and over my lifetime I have done 3 full restorations but none on trucks. Everyone was fun to do but financially I took a bath on everyone. At my age I will have to get my wife on board. I don’t think I have any sales pitches left that would convince her. But will see who looses their mind first.

Re: Suburban and panel finds

My suburban was free and my wife was all about it until it showed up. She was picturing a nice looking one when she said ok.

I like it, ft&rr posi,..nice!, Shame it has Windows cut in, but that's more reason for a body swap, she looks to be extremely rotted, a lot more than throwing skin on it. Rare truck for sure, hope you can save it!

Re: Suburban and panel finds

67 I6 3 speed manual with barn doors $5100. If it was mine I would have at least mentioned if it was a 250 or a 292. No mention of rust either which is disconcerting.

https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/...106233046.html

Rare ‘67 3 door Suburban with barn door rear doors. Inly roughly 12000 of this configuration were ever produced. Perfect candidate for restoration. Was going to do it myself but too many other projects ahead of it and don't want it going to waste. 3 rows of new seats, new bumper and a large box of new parts to go with it. It ran last year but battery is dead and haven't started it in a couple of months. 3 spd manual and straight six engine with new carb. Comes with custom car cover $5100 obo. Will also trade for 4 wheeler in great condition, riding mower, cabinet saw or other items of similar value if I need them. Make me an offer.

Re: Suburban and panel finds

I don’t understand when trying to sell something why people won’t take the effort to make it run if all it needs is a battery. Not a bad looking ride though.

Re: Suburban and panel finds

I kind of suspected they were. The font style really doesn't match any of the Suburban badges I know of. But in a world where maybe 1 in 100 people know what kind of truck I'm driving I doubt I'll get called out for having a Mopar badge.

Re: Suburban and panel finds

70 K20 $7000. Could be decent truck. Although the noticable lack of information on rust along with the less than optimal photography is worrying and why no photo of the engine as it is described as the best part of the truck? Not mine other wise I'd know the answer to these questions and more.

https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/...127956452.html

I have a 1970 3 door suburban 4x4, 3/4 ton running gear, th 400 an a 208 t case. The motor is a 383 sbc with pro form heads 10 to 1 compression hydraulic roller cam. Motor is full of good parts. Msd ignition system, Holley blue fuel pump. Comes with 38 inch super swappers, street legal, runs on pump gas. It has been 13.02 in the 1/4 mile. Wanting to trade for a Harley Davidson. But Open to offers..

Re: Suburban and panel finds

Certainly a vehicle with lots of history. One has to wonder how many times was it called into service as an ambulance? If I'm not mistaken the chrome bar in the back was there to secure the gurney to.

I picked up this 70 Panel yesterday less engine and transmission. No windows cut is so now the task of seeing what is salvageable and interchangeable to make a whole Panel.
