Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Notice your comment on using a Vette syspension, check out farmersid, he has done it the right way. I going to use a 93 C-4 both front and rear, get the rear from a manual car, it's a dana 44, the width on the C-4 is approx. 1" wider on the C-4's from approx. 90 through 96. I'm going to use this the irs & ifs on my build which is on "perma-hold". Good luck just my 2 cents. NC

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Well the rebuild starts, got new frame well its actually the truck original frame. Remove all the front sheet metal not much i'll save there. Need to replace both front fenders, the hood, rad and rad suport, inner fenders, bumper guard and bumper, upper mustach pieces, i'll save the bumper bullets but they need to be worked on and rechrome. Here the girlfriend helping out grinding rivets. look at that the bumper starting to look good again.

That has to be hard, to start over again, but you will make it right. Nice rides in the background...Jim

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Thanks, yes pretty hard , had alreaday planed next summer trips with the truck so this will delay a few things for a while. The Belair is mine ( owned it for more then 32 years now) the Buicks are friends of mine, cars that i was suposed to work on this winter, now their project are going to be delayed also.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
I'm just now getting caught up. Hate to read about the wreck, but definitely glad you are both OK!!! I'd like to hear what insurance company you dealt with and how they worked with you.
Great to see you putting it back on the road! I'm glad to be able to see some more of your innovations on here!

Good to see you back at it!
Hope you have some fun building it, again.... Some folks won't start again after such a disaster.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
I spent all day reading your build taking notes from pages to refer back too. As I almost get to the end just to see it totaled out. It brought a tear to my eye. So sad kids these days. Well I'm glad you are rebuilding it so can get some more ideas. Keep up the great work.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Found a new hood today, a few dents and some surface rust but overall very decent shape.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Still assessing the damages from the accident, removed the box today no damages there that's one good thing. The cab has a little bit more damage that i though at first, the right side of the dash is dented, got a new one but not sure yet if I'll replace the whole thing or just the damaged area. Also found an other hood no rust but its dented at the back.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Made the decision to go with flat out c4 conversion kit for the front and keep my 4link coilovers at the rear for now. While waiting for the kit to arrive I'm fitting the front sheet metal back together. Reworked the rad crattle and installed new fenders, I'm surprise to see the drv side fender fits really well with just minor adjustment. The pass side is a different story, must have been a Friday afternoon build fender, nothing lines up or fits properly even the headlight bucket doesn't fit.

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
Good to see some great progress again!
What makes you decide not going with the C4 IRS at this point? Now that you're rebuilding it..

Re: 55 2nd serie GMC
While waiting on the front end parts its more body work. Since i had that cowling apart i took time to replace the vent door assembly, my old one was rusted out.
