Maybe... I pulled out the steering to give me more room to get the motor in. I will have to see what happens when I put it back in.

When I finish up my transmission mount what angle is the output shaft supposed to be at? Is -3° about right?

That's what i shoot for. A little more or less won't hurt anything though.

Firewall is trimmed and motor is in. Welded up the transmission mount but forgot to make sure it was centered first so I have to cut it off and re do it

Got the transmission mount fixed and tried to fit my rack and pinion back in but no luck. It interferese with the bottom of the crank pulley and the top of the arms. I don't want to raise the motor and can't lower the arms. I may have to use aftermarket lowers to get the clearance I need.

After all the work youve done on this thing, I would be disappointed if you didnt make youre own arms..........

I will be making uppers becuse they are straight forward. The lowers will take a little more but I am going to look into making those as well. Just like the rest of this project I don't have the money to pay someone else so I learn to do it myself.

Good thing your a Mech Engineer and can build the in CAD to make sure they will work.

I may end up swapping back to the stock steering. I looked at it today and I believe it will fit. I wouldn't mind not having the rack and pinion.

I will definately be drawing up the uppers first because if I go back to stock steering I will need to get creative to avoid the steering shaft like MMW did.

I would be more inclined to build a jig that holds the stock arm and references the B/J and pivot points. Pop the the arm off and place the B/J pad and shaft pieces on the jig and make tubes that connect them keeping in mind the modifications you need and the obstacles you want to avoid.

i say try the stock steering and what happens from there...im pretty sure there is a fix for this and even like this guys said to build your upper arms build some like the ones the jeebus did upper dodgers they're build to dodge the steering.....i know its easy to talk and say make some but if you able to why not....

My uppers woul be flat plate so no need for much of a jig. Only thing you really have to watch for is that the bushings are aligned properly and thats about it.

Got the steering sorted out, going back to the stock set up with custom tie rod ends. Parts came in for rod ends yesterday so hope to get that done this weekend. Have to do a small amount of clearancing on the drivers side lower arm for the pitman arm.

Likely going to go with MMW upper arms to accomodate the steering shaft.

Can't beat the price either. I won't be getting the Jeebus joint style but I figure that if I want that down the road then I can buy a uni-ball and weld it up in place of the ball joint.
