Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

i would buy a table model lathe i could put in a household outlet (in europe thats 220volts one phase) with enough chuck to bed distance that makes it at least capable of making the crankpuley out of a solid billet wish i think is about the largest item i would want to make by myself
i could go still larger untill im able to mill down a brakedisk , but this would become a bit too large for a small workshed , i don't think i would need a lot of bedlength for the stuff i like to make on it
longer stuff like camshafts and cranks would be sourced out as would sumting like lightening the flywheel
a lathe like in that add would be about big enough for single bolt spacers making special treaded rods and bolts but not a lot more in therms of engineparts i think it would become frustrating to hit the "cant do it on this machine" wall in the long run

I tend to see it that way too. But I have learned something about that; sometimes it's better to jump in the water and learn to swim than never swim at all. Once once you experience the use usefulness of something it's much easier to justify stepping up to the big guns.

i can get behind that! learning is the key, and you can always turn something you picked up after you learn to use it. also the way the guys is going. i'm sure he'd take $200-250 cash....

Hmmm, the 3-in-1 might be a good way to break into it.

Is that the last patch panel for it to be completely sealed up?

Exercising restraint this time... A coworker is trying to sell me a complete 68 VW Squareback for $500 though ...and my 12yo son likes them. With the duration of my projects I figure we better get him something pretty soon
