Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, I got out in the garage and made a little progress on the wiring. I ended up cutting all the wires out that I will not need and also decided I'm not going to use the fuse block from the 94 as it was just too much for what I'm using. I will be soldering and heat-shrinking the harness back together so that everything is right where I want it . Speaking of where I want it, does anyone know where the MAP sensor bracket gets attached? I thought it was held in by the bolt that holds the distributor clamp, but the bolt does not fit in the hole.
That was a big mess-o-wires that are not needed. Ends I'm keeping No really...where the hell does this go? |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Ran a search on Bing "chevy 350 map sensor location" might give you some ideas.

Yeah, I spent hours searching online, but I couldn't find any pics of how the bracket was mounted.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
What did your motor come out of exactly, year make & model? If not 100% sure maybe you can decode the numbers on the block. Once you know exactly where it came from you can do a more specific search online or the used car lot (do a little recon).
All else fails make it fit some where that works by fabricating a bracket or reworking the one you have.

Progress - yay! I was beginning to wonder whether you were going to get to your wiring before I got to mine so you could help me out

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Yeah, I agree to many pics is not a bad thing. If it looks like and wants to be mounted to that bolt drill the hole out and put it there so your tubing will work. Or you could upgrade to the other style (which seems better not having to go to the dist. clamp area) via the junk yard?

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
I showed that Map sensor what was up! I ended up moving it to the bracket where it was mounted in previous years. I also saved weight by throwing away the old bracket
I have pretty much everything identified and marked out where I need it/want it, but now I'm going to pick up some new connector ends as a lot of these are brittle and broken. I can't have that crap! I'm also going to pick up some braided wire loom so I can make it look nice. Dealing with broken ends really just put the brakes on my progress, but I guess a little progress is better than no progress at all. |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Yes sir!!!
This weekend, I got all the sensors connected and the wires ran where I want them. Next weekend I plan on finishing up the engine harness so that I can give this thing a test fire. Soldering all these connections sure does take time, but so worth not having to worry about crimped connections. |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Glad you got the sensor mounting figured out. That Blazer I looked at a while back was a 91, but the owner yanked the 350 since then... Looks like your past that issue now, anyway.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Thanks Josh! Me too! It's getting me motivated to actually get out there in the freezing cold to get this part done

This weekend, my plan is to finish up this harness. I received all my braided loom, and my heated O2 sensor yesterday, so there really shouldn't be any reason for me to delay. I like to heat-shrink all the ends of the loom, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that for every end. Some of them will need to be wrapped in tape. I am still trying to figure out all my grounding points, but I think I have them all identified, so onward and upward! |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, today an opportunity presented itself to pick up a NP205 with the trans adapter and the coupler for $150. I think I'm going to bite. This way I don't have to rework the brand new exhaust I just bought. In my mind, it's a better TCase at a good price and parts are still available. Sorrynara to the old T-221.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Got a little more done on the engine harness today. I'm sure now that I have it loomed up, I have missed a wire somewhere . I would have been able to finish this today, but I ran out of electrical tape. I would typically like to heatshrink the ends, but the way the wires worked out, I couldn't heatshrink them all. I did the ones I could though. I think it's turning out pretty clean. Now I need to decide how I'm going to fit the ECM connectors through a hole in the firewall and make it look good.

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, I took on a little side project in the garage today. Figured if I was actually going to work in there this winter, I should insulate them doors
I also finished tying up my harness. The engine side is now complete. Tomorrow I hope to finish up the ECM side of the fence. |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
I am happy to report that I was able to successfully solder the ECM connectors on the end of my harness yesterday. It looks terrible right now, so I didn't take any pictures I also committed to the NP205, I could not pass up the opportunity to pick up a 205 for $150 with the adapter and coupler. I'm having a friend of mine pick it up next week on his way back in town, so that should be here next Friday. Nothing like doing things 3 times huh?
My plan today will be to finish up the miscellaneous connections such as the wires that connect to the interior components, and grounds. I also received my O2 sensor bung and heated O2 sensor, so I may be able to get that mounted. |

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"
Well, there's something I can check off the list! After 4 solid days of working on this harness, I'm done!!! The loose wires by the computer will be ran inside the cab. I still have the grounds to hook up, knock sensor, starter, hot/key, fuel pump, and O2 sensor. Feels great to have this piece done! Hopefully I haven't missed a wire
