Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Thanks Mike. Unfortunately, no truck work today. My brother is sick now for probably the rest of the week. Something nasty going around, I'm lucky (knock on wood) I haven't caught something yet. Please help me wish him a quick recovery

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Litew8, great sanding and such. The glass installs look great too. My back window corners looked the same and did settle out sitting in some sun light. Your truck is going to look sweet soon! By the way, who's 6leaker is that sitting to the right of your truck?

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Getting real close now! Need some advice. I've been looking everywhere for a decent bench seat cover to replace the worn one I had. I can't find ANYTHING that looks like it'd work or good. I found this and was thinking, maybe? Tan cover with this pic on the back (not too large, it'd be towards the center). What ya'll think

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Ok, nobody (not even my brother) wants to see the horses on my bench seat. I kind of like the look of the horses, and the scroll around them would match up with the pinstripe on truck. I dunno...

No paint today. Masked some more. Looking at Sunday now

Thanks! As for the comforter, , remember when my brother's family became ill? Well, my little nephew on it and the smell never quite got removed , so she's fine with him using it in the garage.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Now we're cooking with charcoal!
Starting with finishing up masking, then the stages of primer, paint and clear.

Nice sticker on back window/right. :lo:

You shoot that in your garage? Was it foggy ? What about bugs or dust particles?

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"

Paint came out beautiful. Right after you covered the white, it looks like you sprayed something along the edge of the paper, what was it, it was a little different in color??...Jim

Thanks! Yes, yes and yes. There's a rather large exhaust fan (center of garage back wall above black toolbox, on at all times while shooting) you can sometimes see in some of the pictures. Also, protective masks that were shown early on in the thread. It's spray, flash, spray, flash, spray. Depending on what you are shooting. If I remember right, one coat of non-sanding primer first, flash (15-20 minutes, depends on air humidity etc...). Up next, 1st coat of paint, flash, 2nd coat, flash, third coat, flash. Finishing off with clear. Same process but he only shot 2 coats I believe. Not so much (large) dust particles. We swept/vacuumed up the day before and the rain from the previous day may have helped. It turned out sweet Pictures were taken in between sessions. You can just barely make out the large exhaust fan's louvers in this picture, look at top corner of windshield.

Thanks Jim That's just how it looked with the first coat of Med. Bronze applied over the white (that he initially overshot on purpose). In the end, around the white - he shot a little more Med. Bronze than the rest to ensure the white was covered well. Since it's all the same brand paint (DuPont), it goes good with each other - spraying over the top of the white didn't have any negative effects.
