That paint is looking great! Love that shade of blue. Glad to hear the new MC worked out.

I was able to start assembling the driver side. Took me over an hour to figure out the rubber dust shield between the doors and fenders. After that we got the doors and fender on. Now just a little tweaking but we are real close.

We were able to get the hood readjusted as I bought a set of Eddie Motorsports hood hinges. Had a little problem with getting the correct strength struts. Still not sure its right but it closes great and sits great when closed. I think a little weak but rather weaker then to strong with a aftermarket hood. The hood was taken off and cleaned so it can painted Tuesday with the cowl and grill. Cab will be together by next weekend hopefully.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Took a few pictures of the hood, cowl and the grill while in the booth. After I opened the door to the both I snapped a picture of the grill in the sun!!! Color pops!
I was able to get the cowl and hood on the truck but need to adjust the gaps. then get the grill installed. A little closer to having the truck finished.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Thank you mike. I hope your moving along on your truck this summer!
We got the the cab sheet metal installed and got the gaps about right. Still need to tighten up the driver lower fender gap. But all in all they look great. Especially since these were horrible from the factory. Hahaha Here is a video of the truck out in the sun. First time out in the sun Here are a few pictures.....the last photo you can see the clouds in the hood!

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Thanks again! I put a Comp cam XR259HR in it. Nothing crazy since it was a 4X4. I wanted more low end torque.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Hey guys not a lot getting done since I am coaching football. But today I was able to get some sound deader installed on the kick panel areas of the cab. I also was able to sound deaden the actual kick panel and get the speakers test fit. Now I will be able to finish up the kick panel when it gets upholstered.
I also did not like how close the dimmer switch was to the kick panel so I desired to make an aluminum tapered block. Fits great and easily to use when needed.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
I have a question for you guys.
The pictures show the front of the truck with amber or clear lenses. Which one do you guys think?

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Yea clear looks better in this case as it has a blue hew to it. But that said I'm still kinda stuck on stock items for these trucks too.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Amber, really nice contrast to the Blue. The clear looks really nice also for a more custom look. I would not mix but match either all clear lens or all colored for your truck. It's going to be sharp! 👍

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Hey guys. Been a little busy coaching football but got a few fun things for the truck.
1600 watts of high end amplification and 10 kicker slimline comp subwoofers. I will be building a custom woofer box out of MDF and will be mounted via the gas tank bolt holes. Picture will be uploaded as I build it.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Started working on the speaker box for behind the seat.
Figured best time to do it since the interior is not in and the paint stull needs to be wet sanded and re cleared. I built this box out of 3/4 MDF for 2-10 kicker CRT woofers. I used the gas tank mounts to secure the box in place. With the sound deadener in the cab the box is solid. After the box is installed permanently I will build an accent panel from the top of the box to the cab.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
I decided to recess the woofers so they would not stick out on the box.
Should give a smooth look behind the seat.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Nice job on the box. I have been contemplating building one too.
Thinking one 10" or 12" sub in center and 6x9's on the ends. 3 chambers. Bad idea? CT |

I thought about 12" but really don't have the room or depth in my truck. I have aftermarket custom seats and wanted as make enough leg room as I could get so the 12" was out even the slimline! If you go with a sub and a 6x9 you will differently have to separate the chambers or the sub will destroy the 6x9's. I may add a small component set behind the seat belt area if i need it. I have 6-1/2" Mids and 1" tweeters in the kick panals and a DVC in the center of the dash, plus the 2-10" Woofers. I hope it sounds good. oh and I have 1600 watts of Audiocontrol amps.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Finally got the box fine tuned to fit behind the seat nice and tight.
I have to order the molded carpet kit. With the color scheme saddle and black I am not sure what to do with the carpet color....

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Decided to use one of the gas tank bolt locations to run a ground stud through so I can ground the cab and the amps to the frame.
I installed a 12+ bulkhead lug in the floor to supply power to the fuses for the amps. I will get a picture of the power into the cab from under the truck when I get a chance.
