Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I am at the same point in my build. I bought seals from Brother's and they said they are Precision. The rear window gasket is too big, so I have excess on the top and no bending under. I am afraid it will bunch up on install. The windshield is curling under just like your photo above. I am wondering if these will work themselves out during install. My cab is being painted tomorrow, so I should be working this next weekend.
Hard to see but excess gasket on Rear top The next two show the top left on the windshield. The gasket is bending under like yours. The two trim pieces don't meet in the middle as a result. I hope when we install the windshield the gasket will fold out and let me push the trim into the slot. |

Rear window looks good, I think a little time in the sun and the edge will lay flat...Jim

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I'm not sure what exactly will happen the next couple days, but as of today - the little extra body work needed is finished/primed. The cowl cover wet sanded, ready for paint. Truck just needs a good bath tomorrow and then we'll see.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks! Well, things took a turn for the worse and people are sick over at my brother's house so no work on the truck today as he's got family to tend to. We'll see what tomorrow brings, if anything. rou, nice job on the window seals The door window frame masking, that's the correct way to have them painted (factory), with only the outer edge painted to match the exterior top of the cab - so when you are sitting inside of your cab with the doors closed, you don't see the white, you see the interior color and it's all seamless looking. You'll notice that those who paint the entire window frame the same as the exterior (if 2 tone/white top or etc...), when the doors are shut, you see white from the inside of the cab - not right, but of course it's a persons preference to do what they want.
The front windshield seal, he used a jump rope to install. The thickness of the aftermarket windshield is not as thick as the original glass, so I'll someday find out if it's a good seal or not. There is some noticeable bunching of the top corners when viewed from the inside of the cab, which are the areas that are of most concern. Not much I can really do about except wait and see, and/or not drive it much in the rain.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks Mike. Unfortunately, no truck work today. My brother is sick now for probably the rest of the week. Something nasty going around, I'm lucky (knock on wood) I haven't caught something yet. Please help me wish him a quick recovery

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Litew8, great sanding and such. The glass installs look great too. My back window corners looked the same and did settle out sitting in some sun light. Your truck is going to look sweet soon! By the way, who's 6leaker is that sitting to the right of your truck?

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
You guys will be getting a little more heat to help ya dry the paint then. Good luck with it!
