Re: PO has me PO'd

Thank you for your time...saves me. Service manual says to use a soap based grease, think it matters

Re: PO has me PO'd

You're welcome..... glad to help. I pulled this off of Wikipedia .... "In the context of lubrication, grease typically applies to a material consisting of a soap emulsified with mineral or vegetable oil." So personally I don't think it matters.... I always use the same grease I use on my ball joints haha

Not black, I'd have it powder coated a chrome or bright silver.

How about if we split it half way...mixed transtar gravel guard (white), with eastwood sprayable undercoating(black) and came up with a grey.

Finish has to be brush/roll on, durable. Powdercoating is out right now, dont have access to a large oven, yet!

Re: PO has me PO'd

How close is it to the rings/buckets? I'd think it would look better if it matches spot on or is black or bright silver like the trim.

Nice guard. Do you want it to stand out or blend in? Black for the first and white for the second. I vote black.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Gravel Guard seems to level everything out, so no need for tedious prep work. Probably paint it spot on, as Jonathon suggested and go with a graphite to match my grille hoops

Best winter steelhead trip ive had in years, tied into about 10 fish and landed 3....2 12 lb and 1 8lb pictured. AJ doesnt like me posting pics of fish, but since you asked and he probably isnt watching....oh well, here goes nothing

Balmy 17 degrees in the morning

Still waiting on my bearings, seems Wes's roof fell in, and lost some of my contact info. which caused the delay...never heard that one before

Picked up the last pieces of my speed warning speedo, pretty excited to start that mod.

Thank you very much, its more of a labor of love, it really destresses me to spend time in the workshop

I really feel like this year is the one where i get to drive it

Re: PO has me PO'd

Bearings in, weird on the wedge, never saw a bearing race installed like that...service manual says to run the nut down until all the space is taken up, then give it a 1/16 - 1/8 turn more. Make sure the streering shaft is straight, when you tighten the retaining nut
Finally, the tilt works....last part of the puzzle was to install the spring to control the return, just a phillips screw driver and alot of pressure

Re: PO has me PO'd

I bet I took mine apart and back together 3 times before I got it right. What sucks is that afterwards I found the hole where the blinker handle screws in had cracked. PITA to swap out so I left it as is. Mine needs repainted and I'm thinking I might just buy a nice shiny aftermarket one and sell mine.

Yours will be solid though once it's painted. Looks good.

Mine has issues also, seems the tilt handle wobbles, not sure of a fix. Not sure which piece has been threaded in wrong
