Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Exhaust wrap wrap next and ready to roll out. Had to remove the stock shift rod for the exhaust so I could tuck it up high. But Lokar had the solution. You can see it in this pic here.

Exhaust looks nice! You can't beat mandrel bent, I wish somebody in my area would've had the equipment when I had mine done. Waiting for the video...

THe X pipe is a universal from Jegs which is Dynomax I believe. The 2 over the axle kits are FlowMaster universal kits for trucks. You and everyone else can have the same thing. I just dig deep and look and plan and get lucky when it all works haha. |

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Not to dump my issues on your thread, but I'm having start issues myself with the Fitech! It's different than yours I think, it takes three or four times to start and then it runs fine. Drove my truck home finally and it did great for 200 miles. Doesn't seem to matter if it's cold or hot. I put their fuel command center in hoping it would be easier but I don't know that it's all that great.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
What distributor did you go with again? I've got the billet one from GM that looks like it was built by MSD with the heat module and they are junk.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Do you use vacuum advance? Need to know so I can show you which distributor you need. I do not use vacuum advance. So the part numbers will be different.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
New rotors showed up today. This is the closest I could find that will match the Wiwood rotors when I do the rear conversion kit.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
So I've tried three modules on my HEI, and I can't get a consistent rpm during cranking. Most of the time it shows 0, gets enough spark to start and I see 500+. This is usually on the third try. Anyone have any ideas? Fitech says rpm during cranking is a must.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Might have to! I've had 3 of these GM Performance Pro Billet Distributors. They come with the MSD Heat modules, and my truck does not like them! I've tried a cheap chinese module that came in a $40 distributor, and a Pertronix module yesterday. It eventually fires up and runs fine, I drove it for 200 miles and it was fine. Just getting the darn thing started!

Can't wAit to hear your exhaust. Is it loud? My truck has flow masters and it's a bit much for me.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Sound and being loud is subjective. It sounds damn good IMO. I do not like blowmasters they have a tin sound IMO. I like my Borlas. And I will get a video they have a break in period on them they will sound different now than they will after about 250-500 miles. They keep getting deeper.

Ok took a short little crappy video after I picked up my truck. Only has 5 miles on the exhaust. I will get a better video tomorrow.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Thanks appreciate it! Just went with the replacement D52 calipers. And bought some drilled and slotted rotors. I am holding off to see what Wilwood is doing with the new drop spindle they are releasing before I drop big money on a big brake kit for the front.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Got the other side finished up. They look great. The Wilwood caliper may or may not perform any better but they are worth it just for the looks. 1 thing I did not like was the retaining clip that hold the brake line fitting on the frame. That wa the biggest pain in the butt. I spent more time trying to get it to go on the it took me to install the rotors and calipers. I like the Russell Braided SS brake line fitting better. It was a thread style fitting with a nut so much easier. But it's done now. And today looks like a nice day to test them out. Haha.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"
Had to order some new hood hinges cause mine finally wore out after 39 yrs. So new ones show up today and guess what they fit like ****. Lol. Imagine that. I had to enlongate the holes so the back of the hood the cowl location would sit flush. Besides that they are nice hinges. That what you get when you buy hinges for $65 shipped. Thanks AMD!!
