Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Heh, ya sorry guys I've got a few items I'm waiting on, started another class, and had to tinker with the clown car a bit lately. It's all dialed now so next week should be a good one for some Tahoe progress.

No worries OB
BBO, it started flaking before I even drove it It took more time to take it off than to put it on... I'm going to wait for the 13's to die and I'll get some 15" steelies and real WWW's. If nothing else the excersize convinced me that it needs them. |

Playing with spare doors. Sorry the iPhone doesn't take great pics in low-light. I'll have to switch back to the real camera. This is the door I got from CG via Brad:
Tracing the window frame to make a template: Corners will swap angles for use on the other side of the truck: |

With the template flipped (Porsche Posters make good template material; Thanks Britain) and the corners welded up. Still needs the lower 6" modified to fit in the door:
To do that I moved the straight piece from the back to the front and used a curved piece from a truck door: |

Looking good, so are you still going reverse? Also did you add and subtract from the two side posts for the different lengths yet? If memory serves it is right about 1/2" or so.

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
He's making a 4th door, like Rokcrln did. To do that you need a mirror image of the back door on the passenger side, and since they never made a back door for the driver's side...

Yes, 4th door. Yes, suicide. Kevin I extended the lower/rear of the outer frame with a small piece along with the curved extension I took from the truck door.

Thus ruining a perfectly good "rare 3-door Suburban" (as regularly described on the fleabay)
BTW, my first thought when I saw the Yokohama poster was that you were trying to infuse a little ricer into the truck... then, as I looked at the car, I realized it was pure German engineering you were after. Guten Arbeiten!

OK so now what are the plans for the door it self? Are you just going to run it back wards? Should be sweet with clamshell doors!

No worries I kinda jumped right into it with little explanation. I don't like one-piece glass on the Burbs to be honest. Even if I wanted to I would have limited window travel on the 3rd and 4th door due to the wheel well notches. Last edited by Frizzle Fry; 10-10-2008 at 12:41 AM. |

I love what you've done frizzle, to me your truck still maintains the character of the original even tho highly modded. It will definately be a one off creation. I only wish i had the skills to crate a work of art like you have.

So you have plans for both rear doors to be suicide?
I am sure that’s the plan but I was wondering…… |

Haven't checked in on this one in a while. If only I had the brains and patients... Who am I kidding, I don't have anywhere near that kind of talent. Looks awesome!

I'm hoping your response was as sarcastic as mine was. 'Cause you know what they say about lambo doors:
