Yeah Mark, another week of work and you'll be done.

j/k bud, I love the progress you've been making. It's incredible really, given how far away your shop is. Keep it up!!

Thanks Mike.. Going back to the shop tomorrow to finish up under the hood and start on the bed floor.. My plan is to go ahead and mount the bed without the paint, get it bed lined and exhaust installed before it is painted.

Hope the fishing was good for you this week.

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Installed the heater and AC hoses this weekend. This should finish up under the hood.

Most of the weekend was spent working on the bed floor. I was going to spray bed liner on it like it was, but after talking to Kyle a few weeks ago I decided to try and clean it up a little. The bed was bowed down in two areas. One near the tailgate and the other near the rear fender wells. Both were across the width of the bed. I spent over 8 hours working these out. It is not perfect, not sure I would even call it real good, but it is a whole lot better than it was.. I think it will be fine after the liner is sprayed.

Need to wait for a decent day to re-prime the bed floor, maybe Wednesday..

Bed looks good to me. Once you start hauling rock, steel etc. you'll never notice it anyway. You are building this thing for work right?

It's not often you see a firewall that looks like a mirror. Fantastic work you are doing, this is more a magazine cover truck then a work truck now.

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Looks great Crash! Shouldn't be long now. I just got mine down to the frame yesterday. should be blasting it in a week or so. Thanks again for the all the info on your build. It has made my build much easier. I now understand why you went with automatic. I think I have installed/uninstalled my motor/4 spd about 6 times now getting everything mocked-up.

Thanks Chris.. I considered a 5 or 6 speed manual, but it was easier and cheaper going with the 4L60e, of course the TH350 would have been even easier, but I wanted the OD.

Re: Crash's 69 K10

Great job Mark, body working the bed floor doesnt look like much fun. I like the wheel tire combo you chose. Very nice!

I was looking back through and I noticed you mounted the boyd tank on top of the lower flange of the frame rail with some rubber strip between. Did this give you enough room for the side filler neck to clear the top of the frame? How thick is that rubber and where did you get it? I am going to mount mine similar to get the filler neck up, just curious how this worked out for you. Thanks

Thanks Dan… It was not too bad.. I always have fun when I am working with hammers and metal. It was however, very hard work.. I was wore out by the end of that weekend.. Kyle, told me “Welcome to my world”.. Any way, it is far from being nice, or for that matter good.. But it is so much better than before that I am going to go with it.

Yes mounting the tank on top of the frame rails provided enough clearance for the filler neck to clear the frame. The rubber was ¾” heater hose I split down the middle and spread out..

Have a great day..
