All parts there except for a few bolts that will cost $4-5 at home depot to replace so I'm not filing a claim and going through all the hassle, but UPS will get a call today. 2nd box in a week with damage. 1st was the broken column parts and now this.

Always glad to have parts show up, but man it sucks to walk out and see a box in this shape.
If you mentioned it and I missed it I am sorry to ask, but could you tell me what exhaust kit you ordered?

No problem.......check post 922 for all the info on the exhaust kit. Its a really nice kit and you can't beat the price for full exhaust, mufflers and hardware. And the H pipe is already welded.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

The exhaust kit was all there except for a few bolts. Test fit everything and no damage to the pipes, hardware or mufflers. Looks like a great kit. The "H" pipe is already welded and the price was right. We'll see how install goes with mods as its advertised as a 66-72 kit. So e-brake is the only issue that should pop up, but we'll deal with that when the time comes. I do have to get a different part to mount to the "ball flange" style headers I have, but they seem available through Summit and Jegs.

The storms kept me in last night, but I was able to degrease and strip the two bellhousing pans so I can get them prepped for paint. So at least it wasn't a total loss of a night.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I've done the whole file a claim thing in the past with UPS....very time consuming and a big PITA. I'll definitely contact them but for $5 in parts I'll replace them myself.

At least it wasn't NOS parts like the last episode. Lost a factory passenger side cast iron mirror arm and an offset mirror head. They delivered an empty box.....

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Got on Summit this morning and ordered the Hedman header reducers. Part # 21115 for the 3" inlet and 2.5" outlet ball/socket and costs was only $25.92 shipped. So this should wrap up the exhaust minus tips if I decide to install them.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Heres a few pics of our flash flood in the front yard last night. Got kinda close to the carport where the stepside is. Neighbors been there 55 years and says its been 25 years since its gotten that high here. I normally have about 6-8" of water and it takes almost 3' to crest the road like it did.

The pic of Hardees is about 10min down the road from me.

Yeah, we got a bunch here. Went from dead calm to 50mph winds, then the rain came, then the quarter and dime size hail, thunder storm....and the rain just kept coming. Visibility driving home was around 20-30' at most. But got home safely. They say we have more coming today.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Ordered the last two pieces for the exhaust. The reducers the 1st pieces of exhaust pipe are both 2.5" so they require a butt joint clamp. No biggie.....$6.97 each made from stainless steel and come w/grade 8 bolts. The exhaust can be welded also, but I'm going to clamp mine. Summit Part # 693250

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-693250/overview/

I would have preferred a lap joint like the rest of the exhaust, but it wasn't an option when getting the header reducers....so butt joint it is.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

IMO the band clamps are the best way to go on all the joints. They don't deform the tube like the u-bolt clamps, so you can disassemble the joints if so desired.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

hmmm....ive been wondering about the clamps over the ubolts. maybe i'll order some more to finish up the system. summit says they don't require anything to seal, but the goo may be an added benefit to ensure a good seal. it will clean up easy too. thanks guys.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

me too.....

spent most of the day prepping the fleetside front frame and firewall for paint so i can take the front end off the stepside and get it mounted. i have another front end for the stepside. will probably do the piller/floor/cab corner work too while its off on the driver side. the cab mounts look horrible on the driver side. i already have gm sheetmetal to replace it all.

Couple of picks of the front tow hooks....don't mind the driver side bumper being slightly off and the dirty chrome..just put it back on for mock up, but they will come back off this week.

haha....i hear you there. actually the factory paint held up really good. but i can't leave well enough alone and it'd look off with everything else being painted. so a quick scuff, degrease and couple of coats later....

its getting there though, one piece at a time.
