Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

but with the S2000 brakes you'll have to run something larger than a 13" wheel, no? atleast a 16" wheel? shoot, even my old 93 civic came with a 14" wheel for its "massive" brakes.

Totally forgot about the brakes when I posted that. Good call. Would be nice to find some 16"/17" steelies that will accept the OE caps. A ford 5-lug pattern would be ideal.

That would be cool...bigger steelies with the OE caps!!! Just hope they don't go spinning down the gutter when you drift around the corners at 8000 rpm. Maybe an incognito set screw? Hmmm...

Or some hideously wide wheel spacers.

isn't the dodge/ford same bolt pattern? i've seen someone weld the "bumps" that hold on the hub caps onto bigger wheels to hide the lug nuts before. it's like they just took the bumps off the stock wheels and welded them on. i can't remember where i saw it, but it was in a magazine somewhere i have in storage(i never throw out my reading room material).

...and just to muttle the wheel discussion some more - let the temptation begin:

Front: http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/Bra...000&modoption=
Rear: http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/Bra...0&modeloption=
...if you can find a 17" steelie that will fit with minimal windows in them and you choose the black powerdcoating on the calipers, you can maintain the sleeper look...

This is exactly why I've gone to such lengths to make most of the Honda parts bolt in. The aftermarket is HUGE for those cars

I don't remember if you posted this or not, but how does the Sunbeam compare weight-wise to the S2000??

Since no "sports car" is complete without some form of anti-roll/sway:

One of the bracket mount pads:

Approximating location. Bar cut to be narrowed:

Played with the idea of running the S2000 brackets reversed but didn't in the end:

Tire clearance at lock:

Surplus:

Choppy choppy:

This tube fit the bar ID perfectly snug:

Bar -5"

Stripped and smooth:

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

By the way, the engine is sitting on the jack because the engine mounts are out for powdercoating.

Pads/brackets tacked in. They run parallel and the frame does not in that section:

In this pic you can also see the lateral support bar I added between the tie rods. It's a thick walled 1" OD DOM tube with two bends to clear the crank pulley:

Decided to run the endlinks to the coilovers. Keep it simple! I have one factory endlink for mock up. Adjustable endlinks are on the way

(Tierod boot clamp will be reclocked )

I am going to relocate the front of the bar higher on the frame brackets and shorten them for less chance of curb sandwiches:

Once again thanks for creating one of the most interesting and information posts on this site. Your absolutely fearless. Great instructional photos, your commitment is appreciated...this is what I wanted from American Hot Rod or Foose but we all know what we got from them.

This is one of my favorite builds ever. I like oddball cars and combos. I love RPM's so the S2000 drivetrain makes it ever better. Great work.

Engine out again ...for the last time!

On the last episode of Driftbeam Garage the firewall and trans tunnel were starting to resemble something almost recognizable:

Here's how it looked from the business side

This wasn't gonna fly. Someone could put an eye out on that... so:

That's more like it:

Other side needs love too:

the weld across the horizontal joint was not my proudest moment (chased some holes and had contamination from the other side), but it'll all grind out...

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

This was just too gappy for me to consider trying to fill.

Shrinker/Stretcher time:

Out with the old

In with the new

I'll have to use a little filler there to get it perfect ...oh well

Still need to dress the inside, but here's how it sits tonight
