Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Uncommon combo of 521 White with 613 Avocado trim.
A YG7, Promo Package "B" optioned C-10 LWB. Remember this was all the Highlander packaged goodies but not A/C on an AZ delivered truck no less! They did spring for a 350 and posi though. Modified some but surely correctable. It can be yours.... http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/5945617004.html If someone gets a better shot of the SPID or the build sheets and POP please post it.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
It's not in bad shape. But 13.500 is a bit much. I'd love to have that motor in my truck though.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Found this in one of my Facebook Group pages. Was owners grandparents truck that they bought new and he inherited it. he dint know anything about Highlanders. A real Short Wheel Base Highlander with a YG8 Package. The seller also says the tailgate band was there when he acquired the truck.

The truck has been repainted at some point to represent a code 463 Deluxe Two-Tone. Bands are often added by people as was the chromed rear bumper in this case.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Here's one that's in my garage now.....1972 C20 Custom Deluxe Custom Camper Highlander. I brought this home last month, it had been sitting in a yard last licensed in 1995. Blue plaid, A/C, 350 cid, tilt and only 25,000 documented miles, same owner since 1979. Unfortunately it sat outside that entire time, but I've seen worse. Planning on going through it and using it for driver. Just thought you guys would like to see it!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
What is wrong with this Highlander? Listen close to what the owner is saying. I didn't know you could get a Factory tonneau cover. A Cheyenne Highlander ,very unique !!!

"What is wrong?" Your kidding right? I too want to see his SPID that he claims is all matching. Overall it is a hodgepodge of mixed options. While it may have had a tonneau cover in its past it wasn't "factory". Bogus bucket seats and the 71 disc brake sticker don't thelp his claims of originality either.

I would love to see the spid on the Cheyenne Highlander too. I would call that a " dream truck" built the way he wanted it.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
The guy in the vid is so full of baloney, I couldn't even finish watching. Truck is far from original. NICE truck, but it's resto-home-made. Nothing wrong with that except for the fact he keeps pounding it's 100% original. It's not.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
That's a great looking truck. I'd do some serious investigation into it if I were looking into it. Looks like it has pre-72 doors - so perhaps it's had more than just a repaint to add the white center band.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
That's a really interesting and entertaining video....and it is a nice truck.
It is pretty funny tho' how that guy can market that truck they way he does with a straight face...'all original'....cheyenne-highlander....factory tonneau...lol So much about it isn't correct....but it is a nice truck. All Good Coley

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
On my way back from lunch today and met this truck at a red light. Saw the caps and made a u-turn to chase it down...found it in the parking lot of Harbor Freight. Went inside and found the owner. A lovely old gentlemen in overalls and with a cane. He is the second owner since '74. It's had one respray and had a seat cover over the blue plaid. He didn't know what a Highlander was, but knew it was well optioned. Interior was gorgeous. Tilt, A/C, sparkling original carpet, and the factory radio...and it's had the camper top the whole time...a very complete and unmolested original. Just over 100k miles. We talked for about 10 minutes and exchanged info. It's committed to his son, but what a gem. Lucky just to see it and hear the story. Wish I had more pics.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Check the seat pictures and I see white and black plaid, PO1 hub caps, A/C, looks like it came with sport mirrors originally, need to see the SPID.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Since one used to not be able to get re-pop highlander plaid, the old torn up ones are usually original to the truck. PO1s would have been special ordered/added later as PA1s were standard on a 1/2 ton. Mirrors look a little out there! Good find. Ochre is one of my favorite colors, but about the only plaid that works (for me) in it the black/white version. Have seen orange plaid in an ochre truck and it made me feel a little queasy. And it was a nice looking truck too.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?
Here is one on EBay now. Over the years its had a complete make over but started life as a Baltimore build 572 White roof and medium blue body ( could be wrong on the paint scheme and blue name ) and 611 Blue Plaid seat but the cab lights are factory.
