I used my backup primer PPG shopline JP285. I left my slicksand at work. I really didn't need it on what I just sprayed. I just needed a layer of primer cause DP90 is like sanding concrete. My back panel and the inside of cab roof was DP90. While I was at it I went ahead and reprimed a few areas.

Sqeaked in a little more time tonight. Sdailey came over and helped me set the engine and trans in. Another milestone.

nice.. your a few steps ahead of me thats for sure.....went to the salvage yard today.. almost picked up engine and tranny from a 94 buick....5.7 fi serpentine and overdrive...its a thought.

Depends on what their price is. What's the mileage on it? Is there any way to tell? Can you hear it run?

I get 4-5 hours a night, maybe 6 if I'm lucky. We are very slow at work. I've only got 1 car to work on and it's in the paint shop. PDR is taking all of our hail repair. I guess I need to learn a new trade. I've tried pushing dents, I can get it close, but still needs some filler. The classes and tools are expensive. I could learn it with some tips and tricks, but can't afford to buy anything right now. It's getting very scary. I've never seen it this slow in my 13 or so years of doing body work. Well I'll spend my spare time spraying cabinets and sanding my cab. I told my boss to call me if anything comes in. I don't get paid to stand around at work. Might as well be at home getting something done.

This is what I want to run. The only style like this that I can find fits 88-99 C1500. Any body got any info on how these fit our trucks. Or maybe someone has a better suggestion. I want the shorty so you can't see the collector hanging off the bottom. Here is the LINK

I was so slow this winter I had to go and buy an old truck to keep from going crazy. I don't really mind the lack of work it's the lack of money that sucks. I just about got the spot on my cab roof fixed. It looked just like your roof but worse. The one that sat on my roof must have been corn fed.

I have a customer that owns a body shop in Ontario, Ca, and he says his shop hasn't been this slow in 35 years. He wants out. Lucky he owns the whole block, and is collecting rent from the other business' that are left. He wants to retire and work with me doing fun stuff. Right now I'm working on his 63 Convert Lark. Everything but body & paint. So far I'm lucky, and keeping busy for now.

I'll respond to everyones comments next. I just want to post these before everyone goes to bed. I worked all day just sanding the inside of the cab and getting it to this point.

I didn't have any sealer so I used a silver base coat that was left over for a uniform color for the orange to go over. It is pretty transparent.

Then the base coat

Fighting bugs and low light conditions it turned out real good. Once I get some daylight on it I might change my mind.

Thanks for the info. I checked out the link earlier in the day, but couldn't find ceramic coated in that same one. I didn't spend much time lookin. Once the time and money comes around I'll look into it some more.

Those dents suck. I'm still not happy with mine, but with the roof being silver it should look good.

Congrats on staying busy. Wish I had that option. My world consist of going to work and coming home. I don't get out much. What I'm getting at is I don't have a network people that knows what I do, other than those who read this thread.
